Taking an enemy on the battlefield is like a hawk taking a bird. Even though it enters into the midst of a thousand, it pays no attention other than to the one that it has first marked.

Talk of him being sacked was disrespectful and premature, he has done a miracle job for us, he should certainly see out his contract and be offered a new one, whether he signs it is up to him I suppose.

Can't speak for other forums, but few on here called for him to be sacked...it was discussed as an unlikely possibility. And Ronald was getting grumpy....which to me made the results even more worrying. I feel entitled to worry when the manager does. But just as the manager carries the can for bad results (deservedly or not), he also gets to carry the plaudits. Well done, Ron.

I don't see it as disrespectful to question how long a manager will stay in situ if performance continues to be poor. I didn't see anyone calling for a sacking. Given how quickly the trigger gets pulled these days in the PL its a reasonable thing to be discussed.

I think Ron is a great manager and great guy. While I don't like people suddenly saying his tactics are poor and he may be sacked, the posters who irritate me more are the "told you so, silly billy" brigade. By reacting in that way you are just propagating previous discussion. You will never change the reactionary nature of many football fans- don't even try. If you want to engage in discussion do so, if you don't want debate ignore it. When we win just bask in the glory and say to yourself "see, I was right" and post something about how great the team was (not how poor the not 606ers are).

Great post. We should never hound people for being wrong, no matter how much they might have irritated us in the past.

It's a good post, however I haven't seen anyone at all saying "see I was right" or I told you so".... Some may have wanted too.

I think I've seen the opposite. My message was simple really to those who had criticised. .. Try not to do it so ferociously and be a little more open.

Anyway it's a football match. I've just got back from hospital where my sister was rushed into A&E. Possible head tumour. That's far more important than the game.

Hope it all works out for your sister.
In June 2014, my wife's legs "stopped functioning" correctly. Turned out to be lung cancer, that had spread to her spine. Her original prognosis was that she might live until August 2015, but owing to great support from the NHS, and her being a stubborn bugger, she is still with me and thriving.
As you say, more important than football, which is why I try to take a pragmatic approach to everything football related.

Really sorry to hear that FLT. Hope it turns out not to be that serious. This sort of thing certainly puts things into perspective. <hug>
