The vast majority of us are'nt arsed about the Europa League, yes we wanted our team to win as we always do and if we had have qualified this season for it we could have give the younger lads in the squad experience. But consider this lad,not every Liverpool fan was born after utd became successful, and whichever way you like to dress it up our european pedigree is light years ahead of and better than Utd's. Your'e manager has spent the best part of his life playing catchup, domestically he's surpassed his goal but in european competition he has failed in terms of catching us. We are rebuilding under KK,but you lot are now at the zenith of your're power and theres a much stronger club that will kick arse in europe for years to come..
I'm actually in a select group of fans that could not give less of a **** about comparing how each of our clubs did 50 years ago and would rather focus on the here and now. I was just a little puzzled by people declaring a loss against Braga in the Europa league is better than getting to the champions league final and getting beat by the best team ever. Don't get me wrong, I acknowledge history and know a lot about my club, I think comparing it is a bit silly though and trying to masquerade yourself as being superior to another club just because you've won a trophy you consider to be important twice more than them is daft. I'd much rather discuss the squads and credentials of the current teams, and Liverpool is lacking.
alex, has the new season kicked off yet?,Us,city, chelsea have strengthened our squads Spurs Arsenal are there again. Do you honestly think in 89 we knew it would be the end of our era of success? Bottom line is you dont see it coming lad,You base your "Liverpool is lacking" on last season, yet this season will see us with a squad containing different players. Comment on us after the season begins.
I actually think Liverpool will do a lot better this season, sort of hope they do as it's good fun having a good rivalry with Liverpool and that can only get better if the teams are more fairly matched.
Straight to the point alex, when the bubble of success at OT bursts, which it will(it always does)you wont see it coming,ok it might not be next season, but enjoy it while it lasts lad.
It won't end til Sir Alex retires or dies. (Most likely death). But he won't die he'll just become part robot. Sir Alex Fergatron.
I think he'll retire when/if you get your 4th european cup. It seems like the only logical explanation for him making those comments about 4 cups is a big club... I really wouldn't be surprised to see him really go for the Champion's league next season and perhaps jeopardize the premier league in the process.
If Liverpool had won the Europa League you can bet there would have been loads of morons harping on about them being kings of Europe Just like the euphoria over your pathetic Carling Cup, UEFA Cup and FA Cup treble
morning all in respect of the news developing from Norway can I suggest that we watch the tone of today's banter. In this I mean there are more important things in life & death than football rivalry. my thoughts, and hope everyone else's, are to those people effected by what has happened there thank you
Rather like your circlejerk in 2006 when you won the carling cup. Brilliant doublethink from the mancs as usual.
Well, with all due respect to those who have died in Norway.. this is a football forum. Talking of death should not be tolerated at all, so today is no different in that respect.
My thoughts exactly. I hate the notion that every time something bad happens we're all supposed to just drop everything.
Although the events in Norway are truly awful and shocking, i fail to understand what relevance thay have to a football forum
I'm refering to some of the petty, non-constructive rambles that go on this thread, that have no relevance, which pale insignificance with what has happened. Both clubs have there grief to deal with, empathy I thought would prevail. The incident itself in Norway apart from the human loss, has both political & religous overtones which like it or not are and always have been in football. So if you want another round today of " My Dad's harder than yours" (that's a metephor by the way) go ahead knock yourselves out, just in the back of your minds think is what your saying mean anything.
Violence and football have nothing to do with religion. No religion in the World tells you to act like a **** to others (quite the opposite in fact), the problem is ****ing idiots who use religion (or football) as an excuse to act like a twat.
