First single was La Bamba by Los Lobos. First albums were Cloud 9 by George Harrison and Popped In, Souled Out by Wet Wet Wet.
My first single was 'Something Else' by the Sex Pistols. 1979? I bought it in Harlequin records which was next door to the Shepherds Bush Metropolitan line station, opposite the market and a few doors down from Parksy's. I remember playing the B-side, it was called 'Friggin in the riggin.' I couldn't believe my ears. There was swearing on a record! I played it to death, but only when my mum and dad weren't about. My first album was Madness - Absolutely. It was released in 1980 and the first album I could afford. They also did a series of matinee gigs at the Hammersmith Odeon and it was only a pound to get in. That was my first ever concert and I was aged 13.
I don't remember my first single or album does that make me bad probably not as it wasn't a question on the psychopath test score 42%
I bet they were Mull of Kintyre and a K-Tel Top of the Pops covers compilation and you've suppressed the memory. You can get counselling for that, and probably compensation.
Sorry, a tad p!ssed right now but it's that time of year and just want to say this... I hope you all have a very happy and chilled out Christmas holiday whatever your all doing and most of all, Come on you R's
'Twas a cassette for my new ghetto blaster..... Adam And The Ants - Kings of the Wild Frontier..... Single, bought for me by my dad : Ken Boothe - Everything I Own
Didn't think I liked them that much but after seeing them at the IOW festival this year.....realised how amazing they are live.
Nines, I remember Friggin in the Riggin, the line goes, ........... "and there's fcuk all else to do"
My wife has seen them 3 times on their latest/last tour. I saw them once, and got told off for sitting down and playing with my phone for a good chunk of it. Just not my thing, but undoubtedly fantastic professionals and at two hours great value for money - good job for the cost of them. And a drum solo! Apparently they really didn't like playing IoW.
Imagine if Glitter had covered come to daddy, actually don't disturbing thought. Awesome video along with windowlicker
Single - The Jam, Start Album - AC\DC - Highway to Hell (first Brought) My first actual album owned, with my first Record Player I was given something to play - ShawaddyWaddy, can't remember the title, guess I've blotted it out but i do know all the words to Under the Moon of Love and Three Steps to Heaven !! Still mentally scarred and haven't forgiven my parents !
First single - Terry by Twinkle. I think it must have had something to do with the name! First Album - ? I really can't remember, but it may have been the Equals. I really hope though that it was Bridge Over Troubled Waters or Sergeant Peppers! What I bought as opposed to my brother or sister is a mystery to me! Still love The Boxer, Only Living boy in New York & She's Leaving home from those albums though!
First single - the free electric band by Albert Hammond in 1973. First Album - Queen by Queen also 1973. I was 10 at the time and had a part time job so splashed out on some vinyl. Still have the Queen album.
As I said my first album was the Beatles - With the Beatles which I had for Christmas in 1963 when I was 8, I still have it plus the 400 odd others I have collected since
That was one of my first singles too and I still remember being shocked and laughing at the broken glass lyric.
