Like I told you when Fergie left, United will have to get used to a merry go round of managers like all other clubs do. And it may take you three four five managers to get set up right.

And you may well be happy with one title every three seasons or so.

The glory days of winning six or seven titles a decade are very unlikely to return. Ever

Very van Gaal presser. Going nowhere at the minute. Utter disregard for the press which is always a good thing.

Get that passion and siege mentality to the players now!

I hope he's taken the edge of a few Christmasses here too :)

Word of advice, the press is full of ****. Believe them and you're full of ****....

Have a Merry Christmas all, I will be away for a few days as little one settles down at home. I've got no mince pies, sorry.

You're the only one that seems interested in the media. The rest of us tend to watch the football.

Congratulations on the new arrival UIR. Have a good xmas <ok>

I think he made a tit of himself.

No, he doesn't have to cow tow to the press but the reason there is speculation is the dreadful results, not because the press instigated it.

A siege mentality is required though, yes.

It wasn't believed by the way

    Hence the word R U M O U R.

I enjoyed his press conference, I thought he put the media in there place and it was quality the way he finished by offering them wine and mince pies lol

    Really?

    I found it cringe worthy.

He seems to be under the impression that the media are out to get him just for kicks. As Chief said, they are simply reporting that he's under pressure because the football has been crap all season and recently the results have been crap as well.

If he thinks acting like a petulant child is going to get them off his back then he's nuts. If anything he's put himself under even more pressure to get results now as it's the only way he can stick two fingers up at them.

Much of what he's displayed recently suggests that he's not been able to adapt to English football and the modern game in general is leaving him behind.

Really? Based on what? It's not like the whole league is head and shoulders above United even in through these hard times. If United appoint the right manager and continue the current setup, there is every likelihood that United would come back to dominate.

I think he has struggled to adapt to the English media, its clearly affecting him and he isn't used to the way the media in this country go after people lol. His previous comments saying he was concerned about his job and the media going for him was obviously enough for David Gill, SAF and Woodward to call him and make sure he knows they are on his side, I think they must have realised the pressure was getting to him.

That he remained dignified by offering the reporters mince pies and wine despite clearly feeling emotional and angry I thought showed a touch of class. I found it hilarious to watch and read the transcript, the reporters had no idea how to deal with him lol

As for him as a manager he may well not be up to it anymore in the modern era. And I agree he's created a situation were he will need to start getting some results, but that may well spur your players on.

Whether he is a good enough manager for you or not I find him entertaining to watch in his press conferences.

Never like before under Ferguson, what 14 titles in two decades... You are deluded.

The new Sky deal will make all clubs richer from next season and make trophies harder to win, plus Fergie only had Arsenal to compete with in the first half of his tenure.

Now City and Chelsea are established, and even Suds and Liverpool should be more competitive with the new sky deal and stadiums... Okay that's a maybe!!

Yeh but all things being equal (and that's a big IF for some of those 'fly by night' clubs you've mentioned) we'll still be a good 15+ titles ahead of them and will probably still be increasing the gap on those just behind us.

Can someone tell me why Man United will never recover from Fergie, yet Arsenal Chelsea Man City and Liverpool will always be successful changing managers every season. I really am confused?

Before it's said Arsenal don't change managers every season but going on common belief they would be more successful

Arsenal don't change manager every season.

Nor do Man city, Mancini four years, pelle three.

United can have success changing managers, playing anti football and trying to buy the title.

But it is unlikely you will win 13 leagues in 20 years whether you have one manager or ten.

Your golden era is finished never to be repeated.

But you should win say 7 titles in the next 20 years thanks to your spending power alone
