Match Day Thread vs Aston Villa (H)

The whole team have been poor the second half.

 

Our leftback situation is clear. Colo needs a younger, faster replacement. The rest, bar Perez are average.

 

My analysis of today is that Steve McClaren desperately needs a P45. His tactics were clearly sub-optimal.
The players behaved as their manager directed.

 

Conditions spoiled the game a bit but we had the chances to win and didn't take them. Disappointing result but not the end of the world.

 

It should have been perez on for cisse but it's a point which is better than nothing.

 

A few WHYS
Why do we play 2 defensive midfielders against villa ?
Why do we start with fcking cisse & de jong against villa ?
Why do we bother ??
Why did we not buy a lb in the summer Dummett is horrific??
Why today confirms we will go down now.

Thought Dummett played like the Championship full back he is. Slow, cumbersome and a total hoof ball merchant.

 

Dummett had a good game mate. Let go of the grudge.

 

It's a dreadful point. Anyone who thinks this is a good return is deluded. We are at home against the leagues worst team by a country mile. We are 4th bottom and needed a win today. We have some hard games coming. Dreadful. Sorry but the team need a good ****ing kick up the arse for that second half. De Jong is ****. He is not good enough at this level. Mitro is far to slow. I mean really slow. Iv never seen a more immobile player. And janmaat today. He didn't turn up. That's 2 points lost and we needed them points.

 

At least Thauvin put some lovely crosses in.

 

Did he hell Villas only threat first half came from the left, he gave away a school boy yellow card, 2nd I lost count how many times he just drilled the ball forward to lose possession.

to be fair to dummet ..he was on the waterlogged side of the pitch .. what aboot colo got done aboot 4 times off that agnew whatever hes called .. couldnt do nowt with that freak of a sub .. he had to let mbemba mark him not good for a center half

Dummett was not protected at all first half so Hutton had too much space. Left winger should have been picking him up. His defensive work was generally good and he contributed going forward a few times. There a couple of long balls but then some worked and frankly most players use long balls from time to time - it's no big deal - especially when he's clearing his lines. Good for a CB filling in at LB.

Wijnaldum was very poor in the first half and not much better in the second
left Dummet on his own most of the time
Sissoko wasn't much better

 

Everyone obviously got carried away with two fortunate wins and forgot we syill have a **** manager and an average side at best

 

It's a bit disappointing, performance and result-wise, but it hardly warrants the meltdown some of you are having. The conditions were horrendous and it was difficult for them to control the ball. If one of those 3 bad misses had gone in you'd all be chuffed to **** and saying we did well.

 

I thought Dummett was a LB?

 

It was touch and go whether the match would start in the second half
the rain eased a bit but there was a lot of surface water which didn't allow the ball to run true
