I was born in Beverley Westwood hospital, which doesn't even exist any more. Lived there (not in the hospital) for the first year of my life too, not that I remember it.
I was born in Beverley and 27 years later I've bought a house here. That's right, bought. Trying to expunge the memories of living in Skirlaugh.
I like sitting near the roaring fire in Nellie's on a cold winter's day. Well perhaps not this winter, this winter the fire can **** off.
When you look at the two places, as an outsider you would think that Beverley has more in common with York than Hull.....yes geographically Beverley is closer to Hull but historically & culturally it has more in common with York
I too was born in the Westwood Hospital. I was under the impression that I was summut special, but judging by the comments on this thread, obviously not. I only choose Beverley because I needed to be close to me mother. I've never lived there. That would have been wrong. But I did work there once. First year of my apprenticeship, at Armstrong Patents, just by the Railway Station. Wild place. Taught me everything I know about the 1974 Health and Safety at Work Act. Which they then proceeded to ignore, almost in its entirety.
