The Chairboys welcome that lot from up the road to Adams Park for the first of three home games over the festive period and the power of three is something that can't be ignored, three wise men, third rock from the sun, three lions, three bears, three wise monkeys, three medals gold, silver and bronze, and of course a hat trick I could go on but I'll get to my point it's all about three not four and there are three statistics that can't be ignored first we are on a run of three league draws at AP, so that suggests the game can't end as a draw but when we put our opponents statistics of winning on their last three visits to AP and also having won their last three away league games I deduce that a home win is on the cards. With no new injury concerns and only Marcus Bean is out injured Gaz only has to worry if Sido will be available after missing Tuesdays game with personal issues but a shuffle of our forward line is likely. I will be at AP for this game and it could be a bumper crowd with the visitors having sold all their allocation of tickets and I'm expecting exciting counter attacking football to be played where form goes out of the window and a victory for the blues by the odd goal in three
Our defence is not looking as solid as it was so I'm no longer happy to assume that if we score 2 goals we will win and if we score 1 we won't lose. That's how confident I felt last year (rightly or wrongly). We look vulnerable to pacey wingers and have been fortunate not to have conceded more than we have lately. Oxford don't seem to be scoring many goals but let's hope they don't come all guns blazing as they did when giving Championship side Brentford a 4-0 pasting, with 3 goals in the first 12 mins Statistically, it looks like a draw is unlikely. But stats are just that, stats. I can't see us winning this one unless we play much better than Tuesday. Unfortunately, a draw looks the best we can hope for. They seem to be able to take full advantage of playing against less than 11 men (Stevenage) so hopefully we can keep 11 on the pitch for the full 90+mins
#Chairboys are otherwise unchanged: Ingram, McCarthy, Jacobson, Stewart, Pierre, Harriman, O'Nien, Bloomfield, Wood, Thompson, Hayes.
Roofe was totally anonymous ron, our defence had him in their back pockets! Excellent performance yesterday and exactly what our players needed to do... we now need to replicate this against luton and more to the point in our next home games. Same goes for the crowd - excellent yesterday and adams park seemed more like a fortress than in a long time Huge credit to gaz as well for the decision to start thompson over holloway - i suspect there were some raised eyebrows but it paid off very well
