Two wins and two draws from their last four fixtures has given Rangers’ season a much-needed boost and with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink beginning to stamp his blueprint on his new group of players, a sell-out travelling R’s faithful will be in confident mood ahead of the clash against lowly Bristol City. Steve Cotterill’s side head into the clash on the back of a thrashing at the hands of Derby County on Tuesday night. Whilst Rangers were pushing high-flying Brighton & Hove Albion all the way in a pulsating 2-2 draw at Loftus Road, the Robins were on the wrong end of a 4-0 scoreline – a result that saw them drop into 21st place, one position and one point clear of the relegation zone. Despite that defeat, Cotterill remained philosophical, commenting: "I'm not surprised with where we are in the league, because I knew what it was going to be like. "Of course, I'm disappointed, but I'm not surprised. "Do I think that we could have been a little bit higher? Yes, I do think we could have been a little bit higher, had we taken more of our chances and had a bit of luck at times. But I'm not surprised we're not at the top." James Perch misses out for QPR with bruising to his knee, while Sandro is a doubt with a calf problem. Aaron Wilbraham, Jonathan Kodjia and Luke Ayling, having been rested on Tuesday, could all come into the reckoning for the visit of the R’s. please log in to view this image Possible Starting Xl's please log in to view this image please log in to view this image MATCH ODDS Bristol City win: 13/10 Draw: 23/10 QPR win: 7/4 LAST TIME OUT QPR 2, Bristol City 2 – Championship – Monday 3rd January 2013 Scorers: QPR – Faurlin, Taarabt; Bristol City – Pitman, Caulker HEAD TO HEAD Bristol City wins: 25 Draws: 24 QPR wins: 31 MATCH OFFICIALS please log in to view this image Referee: M Haywood Assistant Referees: W Bull & A Quin Fourth Official: T Wood please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image ''This is Ninesy's final Matchday Thread before Christmas, so on behalf of him and me and the rest of the 'QPR Family' I'd like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.'' - Love David Junior Hoilett xxx
Many thanks to Junior and yourself Nines! Merry Christmas to your self, and all the QPR Family! And good news if Mr Perch does only have bruising to his knee. It looked like it could have been a lot worse when it happened.
Did Caulker really score for them the last time they played us? I was probably there but it is hard imagining him getting his head on a free kick or corner or however he scored/
I thought the same thing as you Fingy. Here's 10 other players who played for both Bristol City & QPR ...
RE: LAST TIME OUT QPR 2, Bristol City 2 – Championship – Monday 3rd January 2013 Interesting R's line-up back in the days of Taarabt - a rare 90 mins for Rob Hulse, a rare cameo appearance for the elusive Petter Vaagan Moen. Faurlin, Hill & Mackie the only players still on our books Caulker booked celebrating his late equalizer. 90:00+1:11 Booking Steven Caulker goes into the referee's book. 90:00+0:43 GOAL - Steven Caulker QPR 2 - 2 Bristol City Steven Caulker scores a goal from inside the six-yard box high into the middle of the goal. Brett Pitman put the Robins in front on 50 minutes after an error from Clint Hill, but Alejandro Faurlin equalised just three minutes later. Adel Taarabt appeared to have won the match for Rangers with an 85th-minute penalty after Rob Hulse was fouled. But as the match entered injury time, Caulker rose highest at the far post to head in Jamal Campbell-Ryce's cross Despite the last-gasp equaliser, Rangers extended their lead at the top of the Championship to five points. Taarabt was at the heart of a one-sided opening period and fizzed an early 30-yard drive just over the top, while Tommy Smith - who completed his permanent switch from Portsmouth on Monday morning - crossed for Hulse, only for the big striker to head over. David James showed his class with a stunning point-blank save to keep out another Hulse header, while Jamie Mackie and Taarabt both fired wide. Off to Morocco today. Best of luck and safe journey to all going. Back for Ipswich xxx P.s. Will keep an eye out Adel P.p.s beware of coins being thrown at the away end if it's like the last time I was there. Could be a nice little Xmas bonus
I know there will not be many who share this view, but there are far too many games in this league. Also it's a shame that our 'mini unbeaten run' has just helped us tread water rather than close the gap on the play off places.
Good luck to any of you that are travelling to Bristol. Hope you have a good day & see another positive performance from the team.
Hopefully another positive performance and this time a deserved 3 points......mind I wouldn't say no to an ugly 1-0 win either...... Up the R's
They've been getting lucky for a while now. Would really like the wheels to fall off. Plenty of big players injured won't help
