Davies joined the Tigers in 2013 but will be free to leave for nothing at the end of the season, so Steve Bruce could be forced to cash in next month

Bournemouth are preparing to bid for Hull defender Curtis Davies in January.

The centre-back's contract at the KC Stadium is set to expire at the end of the season, meaning the Championship club may be willing to let him go to avoid losing him on a free in the summer.

As we told you last month, Cherries manager Eddie Howe has pinpointed Davies as a potential signing with the south coast club attempting to secure their Premier League status.

But Hull boss Steve Bruce will not want to lose the Englishman with his side pushing for promotion back to the top flight.

Bruce will have to decide whether to cash in on the £3million-rated star or offer him a new deal.

Bournemouth fans! Do you want Curtis Davies

He's finished here unfortunately imo, Bruce would rather give his dog the captaincy armband to his dog than Curtis

He offered Junior a 3 year deal rather than 'cashing in on him' ---arf - lets see how serious Brucie is about both promotion and our better players - we've already lost Hobbs, Faye, Macca in order to keep Junior, lets hope another doesn't have to leave as well - Dawson is starting to show signs of wear and tear, Maguire is a good prospect but too slow - we're really going struggle in the centre of our defence unless we do something quickly

I would imagine Bruce will take the 3 million(?) and will already have it earmarked for a replacement, he also will have plans in place for possible signings in January to either boost the squad or replacments for players that may leave, anyone that thinks otherwise really doesn't know football....

in the same way he had plans when N'Doye and Jelly left - he ended up with Akpom on loan and buying an injured player at the eleventh hour who has still only given us 20 minutes 3 months later - there was no plan, no idea, nothing

I think this is more to do with the Allams than Bruce they have this policy, which seems a strange way of working and letting contracts run down, but SB has to work within those parameters.

I certainly can see Curtis going unfortunately, there seems to have been a falling out of favour with SB along the way, whether it was to do with no contract extension being offered last year I am not sure, but if £3M is offered for him then I think they will cash in.

We really need his services for the second half of the season, both Dawson and Bruce are decidedly injury prone.

Would be foolish of us to sell him unless he really makes it clear he wants to knack off, him and Daws together has looked incredibly formidable and could be worth the 60M + worth of prem league money if we go up. Whatever we get for him would need to cover the cost of a replacement or it wouldn't make sense

That's why I think SB will bring a CB in, Davies at times on Tuesday night, looked like he wasn't at the race's (not on his own there) as I've already posted , mentally he looked elsewhere maybe there something in the mirror story, also if you look at his career history he tends not to stay at a club much longer than a couple of seasons.

All sound logic, unless he's being disruptive in the dressing room...

Agreed. As long as there's no dressing room problem, the £2-3m we might get for him isn't worth it at this stage.

Plus, from the player's point of view, he'll probably be happy to wait until the summer and count on a bounty then (NB Not the chocolate/coconut bar).

Yeah, i'd put that into the 'makes it clear he wants to go' category, in which case move him on for a fee.
I know he's rumoured to have fallen out with Bruce last year over a new contract, and him not being given the armband these past few matches could be seen as a slight, but i've not heard anything concrete to suggest he's being disruptive, not trying or generally acting like a Chelsea player of the last few months, are there any rumours or more concrete murmurings?

I'm not quite as convinced about Maguire as some people are. He's good on the ball but he often dives in and either gives away a bad foul or gets beaten all ends up. Bruce and Dawson are forever getting injured. Chester IN.

He's been missing in a lot of games over recent times, and not just because of injury.

If he goes, he goes, we don't need a meltdown every time we sell a player ffs.

Dawson and Maguire are the two CB key to our squad. One experienced, reliable and solid, the other young with bags of potential but both are rather slow, we need a more mobile defender with a bit of pace in the squad to balance it out.

Its been said many times before, and the Bournemouth story is not new, if they offer £3m it will be goodbye Curtis. That said it would be bl**dy stupid to let him go unless a replacement is lined up

I tend to agree. I worry he'd get found out Wayne Brownesque if we got promoted. He's just too slow.

There's nothing inherently wrong with being slow in the Premier League, Mertesacker is the slowest player I've ever seen in real life and Terry isn't quick either. The problem is that Maguire doesn't yet have the positional sense Dawson has to get himself out of trouble, which was so evident on Wednesday.

    Deary me...

Silly to sell him? The stupid owners can't sort out a policy. Bruce is clueless?

What about if he has no intention of signing a new deal?

Then you sell for as much as you can get. And it has nothing to do with a single other person. You can blame everyone else if you want but I think this one is down to issues a while ago when he wasn't starting, and a distinct lack of Interest in signing a new deal.
