So, we are a small club?

    Great post WisconsinMagpie.

70 Toon supporters turned out and we put away 4 cases of Newcastle Brown Ale (provided at discount by a local liquor store) plus a case of Corona in an hour and a half before the game. Afterward there was more black-and-white than blue in the bars near the stadium.

You certainly sound like one of us.

We are an amazingly well supported regional club ( routinely top3 crowds in EPL), but big clubs have international fan bases usually built up on Champions League exposure.

From an American standpoint, the big clubs to follow are Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool. But I'd put Newcastle United in a tier of clubs just under them that might at least ring a bell with American fans and that would have a table of supporters in any decent soccer pub, along with Man City and Tottenham. When Bill Simmons of ESPN did a story on choosing an EPL club and asked American readers to write in and say what club they follow and why, he rated Newcastle third in the league as a club for Americans to follow. So while we aren't a giant club internationally, I'd say we aren't just a well-followed regional club, either.

    Good on Bill Simmons. <ok>

Too many people just jump on the bandwaggon and follow Man Utd.
