I've watched a few of the 10 in 10 Sky games over the past week or so. Has anyone else noticed the amount of injury time been added seems excessive ? In total (1st and 2nd half) 9 mins Monday's game 8 mins Tuesday's game 8 mins last night And all games have been close. Is this all genuine added time or are Refs overcompensating because their performances are under TV scrutiny ?
Reading had a few physio breaks yesterday in the second half. The one where the player had to go off took 5 minutes. I counted 9 minutes of stoppages excluding whatever they add on for subs, the ref gave 7 so came up short imo.
I think on the whole injury time is probably lower than it should be in most games, if you allowed the 30 seconds per substitute and 60 seconds per goal, then added all the actual injuries, time wasting...etc then I would imagine most games should have well over 5 minutes, however most just have the generic 3 to 5 depending on how the referee is feeling.
Reading were wasting time at every opportunity last night. The ref was right to add the 7 minutes at the end of the game, although once we had gone in front it would have served Reading right if he'd blown early!
Would love to see a rugby style 'stadium clock' in football. Ref calls time off when players go down 'injured'. Gives ref one less to think about and everyone knows exactly how long left
And stops the clock when substitutions are made - then it doesn't matter if the player takes ages to walk off the pitch
I said this for ages. It is real time then we all know where we stand. Everyone know it is accurate too.
Noticed one of their players questioning the ref about how much extra time he'd played after the final whistle - their fault for wasting so much time themselves
I laughed my arse off when he went to pick up the ball and "accidentally" kicked it away. Pure slapstick.
Yeah I remember going to watch England and gazza was doing it in the warm up! Look like you're gonna pick it up & kick it! Greegsy's great to watch when we're winning!
I've never got why the clock on the big screen stops at 90 minutes. Surely it makes sense to have it continue?
They're not allowed, the extra time is decided by the ref, they can't have all the fans screaming and pointing at the clock. Same reason they don't show replays of contentious decisions.
The thing is, fans scream at the ref about finishing up the game for most of injury time anyway. I think replays are slightly different, as you can be showing a wrong decision.
I could speak to MC Hammer, he'll probably have one lying around. You'd have to wear gloves to put it up though, cause, well, you know.
McGregors time wasting would have been embarrass if not for Reading's ludicrous and negative time wasting before that. I think the ref felt he couldn't do anything about it for the same reason. He was shouting at the ballboys to sit down as they tried to get the ball for him
I had no issues with the 7 minutes last night. 6 subs - 2 goal celebrations - injuries et al. We nearly got a third from Meyler in that time. Maybe next time DM just run the ball into the corner if you don't have the gas to strike the ball.
Because you might have been eating a pie & your hands are a bit greasy & get fingerprints on it? Finally doing their job, they must be well confused!
