Probably the most insightful answer you could have given.

Ive seen him live a couple of times this season, last time against Villa. I'd certainly agree that he can be inconsistent but when he is on it he is very good. It's whether he could he make the step up where there is more expectation is the question for me.

I believe that Mahrez would be the better option and I'm not convinced that he needs to be played in behind meaning we would have to play more direct. That said do we then give up completely on Adnan?

So a player who came from nowhere and no one had heard of before has a highly successful half season playing a certain way for a team who play a certain way shouldn't be used in this same way?

    Got ya.

    Hummels. Not unrealistic.

The world is full of mediocre Right Wingers at the moment.

Harold Kane is a typical United prospect, Anotoine Griezmann is worth a punt.

  9. If Leicester playing to his strengths helps turn them into potential title challenges, imagine what he could do with better players around him! Why wouldn't you build a team around someone that can get so much out of others? Or at least set up to play to their strengths anyway.

I agree its a bit early for him yet but as you said, he looks the real deal atm. Leicester won't want to let him go and miss on on a potential title (as unlikely as it is) or top four spot. If he were allowed to leave, he would cost a fortune in January. Possibly £40m+

He's the main guy at Leicester imo, Vardy wouldn't be the same without Mahrez.

Leicester won't sell any players who they want to keep in January. I believe their owners are quite wealthy so if anything they may strengthen the squad to try and secure their top 4 position.

Which is why I think Mane would be easier to get, while Mahrez is the better player. Mahrez would be a great signing if possible. Mane more of a questionable punt.

I think we need a centre half, i'd test Ashley Williams' resolve in wanting to try his hand at a major club. Very good player in my opinion, would form a great partnership with Smalling.

Agree on Kane too, i'd rather him than Lukaku any day.

He's been playing well for over half a season but it's only now that he's getting the media attention. I believe that he has more to his game than just playing in a direct manner.

However, as we need a direct pacey approach as that is what we are patently lacking, why on earth would we buy a player of this ilk and then use him differently?

    It makes no sense whatsoever.

No doubt van Gaal would, be very typical to **** up a player by playing him out of position, but that doesn't make it right.

It's odd that he's spent so much money but not bought that rapid winger. It's become clear that the Feelossofee is to defend, defend, defend and then give it to the quick winger. With Holland he had Robben although even he couldn't do it by himself hence the dreary, low scoring games in the knock out stages of the last World Cup.

I agree, LVG would defend deep win the ball and counter attack quickly but with the current Utd team you defend deep and then have nobody to use as an outlet, I don't get it?

Other than that I've seen his teams keep the ball until once agin the opposition pushes up leaving room in behind and then once again he uses the pace of players to get at them, you don't have many quick players so it doesn't work?

These are our quickest players, at least in an attacking sense.

    Martial
    Memphis
    Darmian
    Shaw
    Young
    Lingard

Certainly needs one or two more, or the extra quick variety. Tried in the summer but couldn't land them. Mad how other teams sometimes say no isn't it. Hard for some to grasp I guess, who says no to Manchester United ffs?

January will make or break our season. Were a step away. Despite the minority view. This works both ways though. Being so close and with this opportunity in the league, van Gaal needs to deliver, the club needs to deliver.

2 weeks until January. Buy nobody and chances are van Gaals gone in the summer.

Apart from Martial and Shaw none of the listed players could be classified as above average quick. I assumed Depay was a speedy winger but have been disappointed to see that he's of little more than average pace. He rarely tries to beat a player using raw pace. It's odd that Wilson was allowed to go on loan to Brighton when the squad is lacking pacey players, not that he's a winger but at least he's an alternative to Martial.

Surely if he's an alternative to Martial he should be playing on the wing?

You definitely want Mahrez over Mane.. <whistle>

You ain't got a chance in hell of landing either in January though to be honest...

All we need is a dog whistle and someone to utter the words "Here boy" and it'll be a race to see which one turns up first.
