The Manager Another club Watford face who have recently changed manager. Brendan Rodgers was sacked on 4th October despite a record of 85 wins in 166 matches (51.2%) Many Hornets were looking forward to his return to Vicarage Road having left the club just two days after claiming that those who suggested he might leave doubted his integrity. The name Mr Integrity has stuck amongst a section of the supporters. Significantly Rodgers won nothing at Liverpool. We have won just 4 games drawn 3 and lost 17. At home it is slightly better having won 3, drawn 2 and lost 8. Within the memory of many of us on here, Liverpool became the first major club Watford were drawn against in the FA Cup since meeting Manchester United in 1950. The match was enormous for the club and drew a capacity crowd of 33,553 - a club record at the time and finished 0-0. Watford went on to lose the replay. He was the man-in-the-middle during Watford's 2-0 defeat to Manchester City, at the Etihad Stadium back in August. Clattenburg has officiated 20 matches this season, including Champions League and International fixtures, and has handed out 75 yellow cards and 2 red. Betting Odds Most popular bet is on a Watford win but the odds are over 3 to 1 against; a Liverpool win at evens suggest the bookies do not expect an upset. The draw at 2 and a half to one looks quite a good bet. please log in to view this image Team News - to follow
Great thread I <hangshead> rather foolishly < shamed> thought the match was on Saturday and scheduled a Sunday afternoon Wife's previous-in-laws Xmas do at our house. <verysad> The only thing i can do is hope they all come late <glimmer> or record it all and watch it after they go whilst making sure no one is looking at their mobiles etc. and as my step son supports Liverpool there is faint chance of that <sobsob>
I sympathise - my daughter and family are here Sunday. Son in law is MU fan so can count on his support
Yes it ruined my plans to attend the game too - my 5 year old niece is in her first Nativity play in the afternoon so will settle for the TV and big brownie points!
Mark Clattenburg is the ref then so somebody high profile - lets hope he isn't too friendly with the Liverpool players!
I shall be watching it in front of the fire on Sky . It's now getting increasingly difficult to buy tickets for games . This afternoon tried to get seats for the cup tie v Newcastle ..and no Joy ..Is it sold out already ?
I summon the ghost (you too not seen you here for a while) of Tommy Mooney´s past goal at Anfield. If we beat them then we can beat them now and at home . I am off to the coast so will miss the next 3 games, might have to sneak into an internet cafe to see the results. Hope I get a late Xmas gift! Take care all! Enjoy the festive period!
No, they are only available to season ticket holders so far. There will be available to other catagories later.
I can take the children camping on Saturday now, which will please Mrs NZ, and still see the game on Monday morning. I'm rather pleased about the change.
Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is unlikely to be fit to face Quique Sanchez Flores’ Watford on Sunday. The England international has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring injury against Newcastle United on December 6 but it was hoped he’d be ready to face the Hornets this weekend. However, the Liverpool Echo are reporting Sturridge is unlikely to recover in time to travel with his side to Vicarage Road as he has yet to return to full training. The 26-year-old has had a string of injuries over the last 18 months and has started just 16 of the Reds’ last 83 fixtures.
Looking at the Liverpool board is bizarre. Many on there think that we will win. I don't think there has ever been a time in the history of the universe when Liverpool fans have expected us to beat them. Whatever the result we have come a long way since I first watch us play Liverpool in the 1967 home cup tie. Terry Melling scored for us in the replay. I think that was his only claim to Watford immortality.
I went to the replay game - amazing atmosphere ! When Liddypool attacked in the second half towards us crammed into Anfield road end , the whole team in red seemed to be pouring forward with the Kop right behind them. Liddypool lured dear old ken furphy upfield and his lack of pace meant we had gaping hole which Thompson exploited. Still - happy memories, and the kop gave slater (our goalkeeper once of them ) a great welcome.
I am off on Saturday but also fell foul and forgot the game is on Sunday. I have been trying to access my work's web server to see if am scheduled for Sunday but Adele has brought the site to a standstill. Yes - Adele (the chubby warbler). Tsk.
Thanks OFH - one of my favourite games of all time. I'd been given notice by my then employer the week before and was awaiting the result of an interview for a new job. Went to the match and then attended the works Christmas do on cloud 9 so they all thought I already had another job! I remmeber walking back to the bus stop after the game and a woman in the town centre stopping me to find out the result - she said it had made her weekend and judging by the look on her husband's face I suspect he supported Liverpool or luton
