Your bitterness towards United had no relevance to the discussion mate

Your last sentence was all that was needed ;)

But it's a start.... the fans love Klopp. And everything he does is refreshing.. you're right if Rodgers had done that earlier this season he'd be a laughing stock, but Klopp is known to be eccentric so can get away with it. It was always going to get rivals to take the piss but as a fan who pays money to go watch I'd imagine it's quite nice to actually have the team come over and show their appreciation for you.

Small things like that could have a positive effect... it's not going to have a negative effect that's for sure so why not do it and see what happens.

I pay money to watch mate, and if Martinez had done the same in the same context, I'd have ****ing cringed.

Klopp being eccentric and 'fresh' means he gets away with it (just) by most reds, but give it another few months and the same act after the same kind of result would be treated with disdain.

I'm not personally bothered or find it cringe worthy. He was just thanking the fans for responding to the team going a goal down by getting behind them and helping them get back into the game instead of leaving early like Vs Crystal Palace. I think the traditional clapping wouldn't have worked as effectively because no one would've seen it, as its expected of players anyway. He wanted to do something visual to show the fans how much he and the players appreciate the support and how grateful he was that the fans responded to his comments about the atmosphere.

He got the Dortmund players to do it after every match. Our atmosphere at Anfield has been dire of late and he is clearly desperate to get it back to how it should be.
The players looked a bit awkward yes, because they are normally running off to get showered and get back home to their mansions, not giving two sh!ts about the fans.

Talk about being a hypocrite. You speak about how footballers and clubs are out of touch, and then you say this is cringe!

As most people now know, he went to salute the paying fans for their support, supporters who have been quiet since end of 13/14.

Klopp not only has to get the team back to an acceptable level, but he also get the fans and atmosphere back at Anfield, and something like what happened on Sunday is going to go a long way.

If you can't accept that or see what Klopp is trying to do, then you can hardly comment on modern football and the disconnect between fans and clubs.

It's common practice in Germany. Even when they lose, they will applaud the fans.

And if anyone thinks it's contrived, watch his reaction after we scored the second. All he wants is the fans and players to share his passion.

applauding and celebrating are two different things

we celebrated a point at home to west brom. no wonder the rivals are rightly calling us on it.

by all means applaud the fans to to end up celebrating a scraped goal after a ****e performance shows the team is weak.

klopp will do what klopp does but we need a lot of work

Klopp and his Dortmund team would do this when they're battling relegation.

The question shouldn't by why is Klopp doing this - it should be why aren't other clubs thanking the fans after each game?

You make it sound like this is something Liverpool have been doing for ages but other clubs don't follow suit.

As it is you've done it once and I can tell you why other clubs don't do it after scraping a draw at home to a mid table team, because it was ****ing embarrassing.

The reality is players regularly applaud the fans as they leave the pitch. They just don't do it in a choreographed way that looks like curtain down at a pantomime!

The number of poorly informed morons commenting on Klopp's end of game celebration reminds me of the Suarez ball-to-hand goal where commentators and media discussed how he was making fun of the opponents kissing his wrist, apprently having never seen Suarez score a goal before.

The simple #reality is in a home game a short time ago we were losing. Some fans left early. We lost the game. Klopp discussed how he wanted the fans to support to the end, and the players to inspire the fans to support to the end. Then we had another home game, losing in injury time. But instead the atmosphere was better and a goal was scored, after which it seemed a winner was also possible. So Klopp made the players salute the fans not because that was the kind of result we want, but because that is the kind of atmosphere we want.

It's not complicated and anyone criticising it is basically just jealous their own club is soulless. Perhaps we should have blasted "glory glory" over the speakers the second the whistle blew to drown out the boos. Or if it was supposed to be a celebration of the result a pitch invasion would have probably been more appropriate.

The fact that you keep referring to the result indicates you don't have a clue.
