McClaren has received deserved criticism, but the reason I made my thread stating I was hopeful under his management is he doesn't stick to the same **** over and over like Pardew. He changes.

Sometimes his plans are ****, but at least he adapts to new types of games.

We set up very well to quiet Spurs down, then attacked them later on when they were sore and tired.

    P.S. Mackems...

The 2nd goal wasn't **** goal keeping. Perez took the shot early, which is something he's done to fool keepers before. It was fantastic composure and finish. Suck on it.

Have a good time in the bottom 3 lololololol.

    Ratings -

Elliot - 8 - Don't think he could be too much to blame for the goal. Saved us with some excellent saves through the game.

    Janmaat - 7.5 - Good game.

    Mbemba - 7 - Quite solid

Coloccini - 6 - Not bad, but should have done better for the goal.

Dummet - 7 - Good game with some excellent tackles at times.

Sissoko - 5.5 - Some great runs but really terrible final balls, and he didn't bother tracking back at critical times.

Colback - 6.5 - Good work rate. decent defensive work.

Anita - 7 - Good stuck in well and played some decent passes today.

Wijnaldum - 7 - Some fantastic composure and hold up play. Did well tracking back.

De Jong - 3 - I don't see what he offers. I really don't. Apart from a shot that Cisse block, he looked off the pace.

Cisse - 6 - Some good hold up play and work rate.

Mitrovic - 8 - Changed the game. Missed a great chance, but can't argue with a goal and assist. Too much for Tired spurs.

Perez - 8.5 - Excellent when he came on. Great skill, great passing, fantastic goal. He took the shot early to catch out Lloris.

McClaren - 8 - Excellent set up, excellent subs. My faith goes on.

    Agree save for De Jong.

Don't think De Jong had a good game but he was involved without playing a major part. To me a 5.5.

I thought De Jong was ok. He had some nice touches during the game, and Im sure that shot he had in the first half was going in if it hadnt have for Cisse <doh> Id have both him and Cisse at 5.5

Don't disagree with any of this! The ironic thing is, up until the goal Elliot had got his hand to most of what the spuds had thrown at him....had he left the header for the goal tho Anita would have cleared it, but he wasn't to know that...very unlucky but he is actually turning out to be a very good goalkeeper. Krul may have his work cut out getting back in the team next season !

Do you think Sam will have a plan in place to have Mitro sent off or will it be something he will work on nearer the time

    Mostly agree except

    a) I think De Jong does a decent amount off the ball and makes himself available. It's hard to judge but I don't think it's a coincidence that he has come back and the team has improved.

    b) Sissoko can be a lazy and ineffectual player who I think is vastly over-rated but... the last 30 minutes of the game we were genuinely the better team and for me the driving factor behind Perez and Mitro was actually Sissoko. He threatened, took players out of the game and put some dangerous balls in. I actually thought he was one of our better players today.

Will be interesting to see who McLaren starts with against Villa as I think he feels that starting Cisse and De Jong makes us more compact and harder to beat but Mitrovic and Perez give us more attacking options. Surely against Villa we shouldn't be looking to keep it tight but be taking the game to them. They look the sort of side that if you get an early goal their heads go down i.e. like us normally.

I agree with all but de Jong. He does link up the play well. He holds the ball up ok too. If he can get some sharpness back he might still be a top player. But he does seem a yard slow. But like someone pointed out. Is it a coincidence we have picked up two wins with him starting. We have kept it compact and tight and yes mitro and ayoze give us a bit more going forward but they where allowed the opportunity today because the team as a unit kept the score down.!

Mitro was squaring up to Alli within like 5 minutes of coming on. There's a good chance we could've been playing with 10 men for most of the game had he been started. I like to think Schteve was working under the impression that Spurs would begin to tire around the 65 minute mark and kept back our more energetic attackers until that stage.

Look lets keep a lid on it and stick to what is working. We're ****, we were lucky and we'll get beat off Villa.

That was pre-meditated. Earlier in the first half Delli Alli pushed Mbemba into the hoardings and Mitrovic didnt forget that, so he used it as an opportunity to get him back. Kyle Walker also deserved a kick or two

Not the greatest Sissoko fan but can think of 2 passes which were dangerous. One to Cisse who just sot wide and the ball across Mitro late on.

Think he did have a decent second half but should be performing more consistently and at a better level of "average" performance.
