Really was a top class performance today. Especially when you consider our injury problems. Giroud really is an enigma but at least this Season he is finally putting in performances in high pressure games. Hopefully we will have Sanchez back and fully fit - for the next round.
What a night! Sat in a South Athens bar full of Greeks (Olympiacos supporters) and we beat the ****ers!! fair play to them though, shook my hand and said well done! Giroud and the rest of the team, hats off to you all!! Ohhhhhhhhhh the Heineken draughts tasted ohhhhhhhhhhh so good!
What a magnificent victory that was last night. Practically everybody had written us off and we pulled it off it style. My only hope now is that we use this result to build on and also as a reminder never to take any champions league group games again for granted.
unfortunately missed the game but I've watched the highlights and the after match punditry. Looks like we had a great game! kosc and Mert got lots of praise after the game which is good to see. Ozils passing looked immense, Campbell displayed the form he has previously for his country (really pleased he is taking his chance in the team and performing, have been waiting years to see if he can do it for Arsenal!) and Giroud was very clinical, 4 shots, 4 on target, 3 goals. Giroud got 5 of our goals in the group stage and deserves credit for his part in helping us qualify. Oxo is going to have to step up if he wants to find a place in this team, with Cazorla injured Ramsey is less likely to play on the wing, but there's still Campbell playing well, Walcott as an option and Sanchez back soon. He will get his chances but he needs to start taking them. With a busy festive period I think everyone who is fit will get a decent amount of game time so everyone needs to be stepping up. We have a difficult January in the league so the more points picked up over our next few games the better,
I think we all knew we were going to get Barca. The CL is getting boringly repetitive now, we always get one of Bayern, Barca or Dortmund, Citey always get a hard draw, United always get an easy draw and struggle and how many times have Chelsea drawn Porto and PSG???
That's a good point, and Citey should get through against Dynamo so there'll be English representation in the QF, meaning our rankings should be ok for next season. (and of course by next season Arsenal will be ready to win the quadruple...)
