Sterling paid a big chunk of his fee back tonight, I think. It'll be interesting to see if they can finally get a decent draw.

You'd have nailed on Wolfsburg and United to go through from that group for sure.

It has been said on here before by others too but I'm growing more convinced by the game that we were done a favour when United came in for LVG.

City topping the Group helps England's co-efficient, beating Juventus to it. If Juve get Real or Barca next, we are almost nailed on for another season of 4 entrants.

Knowing their luck they'll probably get PSG.

I'll be hoping they get Olympiakos though, obviously <whistle>

    This ^

I was gutted when it became clear that we were being used once again as the traditional premier league doorstop, holding open the door for the media to usher a big name into a 'big' club, but that man would've utterly ruined this club - for the simple reason that we aren't in a position to burn through £150 million every window just to plaster over the cracks of his ineptness.

I shudder to think what we would look like now under LVG. Probably 17th place with Fazio as captain, Andros Townsend playing as a deep playmaker and Nicklas Bendtner leading the line.

Oh and if anyone needs HIAG, he said he'll be at the cock clinic until at least the end of next week - although they've written him down for the general anesthetic in case Arsenal lose tomorrow so he may be in for a while longer. If it's urgent, he's in Ward H Bed 23, next to Roman Abramovich.

City through to the next round after finding some form, which I wanted to see, as we need at least one English team to produce in the champions league.

    Utd dumped out :emoticon-0136-giggl

Once City have Aguero/Kompany/De Bruyne/Silva/Toure/Sterling all fit for a run of 10 games, they are going to run away with the title, and not even Wes Morgan, Huth and Vardy will be able to keep pace.

Go big, or go home. None of these little single bets unless you're betting on Chelsea to lose.

I've gone with two big bets on Sunderland, one success with Dick first manager to resign, second bet is on Big Sam keeping Sunderland in the league. Their next 3 games are Chelsea, City and Liverpool, but am confident BigSam will just keep them in the league.

To think we got Pochettino and stuck a league 1 player in the squad when we might have had LVG and Depay<whistle> ....................

So Schweinsteiger comes from a place in Bavaria 16 km from a town called Schweinsteig. No wonder he’s not known for his pace. If his ancestors picked up their name 600 years ago, they traveled at an average rate of around 3 millimeters per hour.

As weeks go by, the more apparent it becomes that us missing out on LVG is the best thing that could've happened to us in recent history. If I remember rightly many of us had Poch down for like our 3rd or 4th choice candidate in terms of who we wanted to take over from Sherwood, whereas LVG was a big frontrunner or close 2nd, we were even led to believe at times by media outlets that LVG was set to take over up until Utd hijacked it and so it left a feeling of disappointment when we lost out on him. Yet it turned out an absolute blessing as we've now got a manager that I'd like think at least 95% of the club's fan base are fully behind and feel confident of achieving some form of success under.

Right now, I genuinely believe we have the equivalent of a footballing wonderkid in managers terms, when I look at young managers across Europe I'd definitely put Poch in the top bracket of them. He's completely turned around what was essentially a borefest under AVB to a clueless squad under Sherwood, last season we experienced the transition of pulling out of those boring days as we still bared witness to poor performances and results but this season has seen us go on an unbeaten run and often been the side who deserved to win if we'd drawn, something in recent seasons was a rarity.

The Pochettino dissenters will come back when this run ends and the cracks begin to show, and those maybe slightly more in the middle ground like myself might talk more about Poch's flaws than his strong points. Nobody is blind to the reality though I think, we're just enjoying the ride right now.

LVG is a stop gap for United after they failed with another potential long-term appointment in Moyes - LVG will retire in 2017 and then they'll look for a manager who can do another 5 - 10 year stint. They're scrambling to stay in touch with their competition until they can build another dynasty. He'd have been a stop gap for us too, and quite possibly an unmitigated disaster, if we're going to stray into the realms of speculation

Stability is key in the eyes of United after the Fergie years: to an extent they're right in the PL, Chelsea being the outlier really as City are seeking stability IMO but just haven't found the right combination yet, and United want another Fergie-esque figure as it fits their not-entirely-true self identity of being a club that succeeds through stability and the cohesion that brings rather than big spending.

Of course. If you wait long enough. sufficient "data" will appear to allow you make your "case" .
Pochettino must be a game or two away from a like for like comparison with AVB.

  19. If Poch - or any manager - begins to lose the plot, isn't it right for fans to have a pop? Are those Chelsea fans who are expressing dissatisfaction with Mourhino wrong to do so?

    1. Of course.
Just that some climb the walls in anguish because that moment does not come soon enough.

    2. Whoever you are, you are not HIAG.
For I have good information that he is restrained today, with his hands held so he cannot
destroy his genitals should the results of two CL games go a certain way.
