Yeah, I dont know if he's mentioned this publicly but he told me he did it every year until he signed for Stan Ternent (Burnley I think?) who had seen what he did previously and he had it written into Swan's contract that if he was suspended over Xmas he'd get fined something stupid like 50k (I think he was allowed to be fined more than 2 weeks wages cos it wasnt a spot fine and was written into his deal). I always thought what if he subsequently genuinely got suspended rather than fabricating it? Seemed a bit harsh.

You can't get much more public than mentioning it on Radio Humberside during a match commentary! It was perhaps 2/3 seasons ago, I was still at work and I'd listen in to radio if I was wrong shift to get to the match; Burnsy was quite gobsmacked but Swanny thought it was all a bit of a lark, he reckoned there were plenty of players at it.

Steve Bruce really should if he can consider recalling Ben Clappison and Will Aimson from their respective loans in order to provide much needed cover. Yes Huddleston might be a quality player, but in specialist position at centre half, does he have the required positional sense? I suspect not. Whilst the young lads may not have much first experience, they are specialists in this position. Given City's position in the league, it could be a risk worth taking in terms of the benefits of obtaining real first experience at championship level. The alternative might further substandard performances by players playing out of position where we could end up hemorrhaging points in any case.

I'd rather Bruce the manager was out for a few weeks.

That often seems to be used as a rhetorical argument against sacking Bruce. I'm not a fan of managers getting sacked all the time but I find myself becoming increasingly exasperated by City under Bruce. The debate should be whether he stays or goes, and then only if he does go do we talk about replacements. Keeping a manager on the basis that there's no one else would be daft.

Can anyone ever remember Bruce Jr completing a game without needing the physio on at least once?
