When I saw the line up I was a bit pissed, but we seem to have got it spot on today. We got a bit of luck, but we handled Liverpool fantastically and I think we thoroughly deserved it. The players stepped up and gave us what we deserved after that shower of **** vs Palace. Ratings - Elliot - 5 - Didn't have much to do. Janmaat - 7 - Decent defensively, some good runs up the pitch and work rate Mbemba - 7 - A few sloppy moments but mostly solid. Colo - 7.5 - Played Sturridge onside for the chance they should have scored but his best game in a while. Dummett - 8 - Thought he was excellent today. Good challenges and handled a very tough opponent very well. Sissoko - 7.5 - Not the best composure but good work rate, good runs, and two good assists. Colback - 7.5 - Solid in midfield. Good graft. Anita - 8 - Solid and fantastic defensively. Showing what he can do at this best. Read the game very well. Wijnaldum - 8.5 - Good runs and work rate, showed that he far more effective down the center and getting into the box. De Jong - 4 - Couldn't really effect the game, slow and off the pace. Cisse - 6 - Poor composure in the final third, but some excellent ball control and touches at times, and lead the line reasonably well. Perez - 7 - Good work rate attacking and defensively. Got stuck in. Gouffran - n/a MOTM - Wijnal. (****ing left him on the bench in FF) McClaren - 8 - That'll do Steve. That'll do.
not far away like m8 ..i thinkl de jong got better second half some lovely little touches , flicks ..needs games
I thought De Jong was not bad. Don't disagree that he is still off the pace, but he had some nice touches and showed signs that he could link up the midfield with attack - something we have been lacking in. I'd say 6 minimum.
Agree with all of that Tash apart from the De Jong rating. He was decent, easily a 6 for me. Onwards and Upwards
Thought De Jong was very influential in the way we played and that he and Gigi were the key players today. De Jong was a 7.5 for me
De Jong a 7 for me. He needs game time, but some of his touches were sublime. I actually thought the ref had a decent game as well.
I was mighty pissed off with mclarens 2nd sub. We were 1-0 up and badly lacking someone to give the ball to and to hold it up, Mitrovic would have been a very timely and welcome introduction in my opinion, it would have given the crowd a lift as well I feel but instead he chose gouffran! I think my mumbling a (oh for ****s sake) may have been echoed around the terraces. No matter, we won and got a much needed 3 points and put in a much better performance. One of the commentators summed it up quite nicely for me, saying that we were a lot better without the ball than we have been in recent weeks. Thought dummet was excellent, wijnaldum man of the match for me tho!
Honestly thought Marriner was absuletly pathetic. Both ways not just against us. He doesn't appear to understand how to allow an advantage and just seemed to intervene far too quickly and often.
I think Gouffran came on for Colback because Jack was on a yellow and had just received a warning from the ref. Aa much as I'd rather Mitro was brought on, I think it was probably the correct decision to take Colback off.
Janmaat 8 Cisse 8 De Jong 7.5 I agree with the rest. Except Colback, who as usual done nothing at all
I'm not even sure gouffran touched the bloody ball now i come to think of it. Didn't see the warning from the ref so I can kinda see why he took colback off.
Dummett an 8? He was only good when he was in a more centre back position - as a left back he was ****e! They didn't even try that hard down that side! He was a 6 at best!
Dummett is a championship level player who has been dropped into the deep-end without the experience or colleagues to call upon to make it through. There are other defenders in the league who are possibly no better but have been able to grow into the role they undertake for their team each week and if played regularly for a few seasons he'd probably become a mid to low table premiership player. Hopefully he'll just be replaced soon as he's one of many of our players who are car crash tv.
As he's injured there can be little doubt about this. Though perhaps an injured Haidara would be caught out of position less?
