I've been championing him all season My only complaint and I said it before the team sheet was even announced was that without Coutinho, we HAD to start Sturridge. Even if he only played 50 minutes, he is the most creative player we have without Coutinho and would put fear into Newcastle. Newcastle was our team sheet and thought that all they had to do was sit back and defend the 18 yard box because we aren't going to be able to walk the ball through them with the players we have. Cout / Firmino / Lallana / Sturridge suit the way we've played far more and it's no surprise that when we've played well the majority of those 4 have played. Chelsea, City, Saints... Benteke has strengths so if you're going to start him you need to adapt your tactics to suit.. we don't seem to be doing that. We're asking him to play in the plan A tactic, which atm (not saying he can't in future but he doesn't suit. It might not be as obvious as it was under Rodgers, but today we played people out of position in a tactical sense
At least Klopp took it on the chin and called it honestly. We were poor, didn't deserve to win simple as that.....
He is top of the table for second half wins. #winning #embarrassmenttotheirclub #mysticastro #astromath
He's disappeared like a rat down a drainpipe. Didn't even last the second half either #jobdoneindeed #pathetic
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "With the situation Newcastle are in and the situation we are in, you have to say they deserved the win. I couldn't see that we should have won, we were not good enough today. I don't know why. I have to see it again and know more about it but it was hard work. It should not be this hard. We could do better. We should play much more football, our pressing was not good. We were not compact - there was a lot of things we did not do well." On Moreno strike being ruled out for offside: "He [the linesman] would say that he should see it, it was pretty clear I think. Maybe we deserved a point, sometimes you need dirty points. But if one team deserved to win it was Newcastle. "A few days ago we were were brilliant, today we were no good. That's the way it can go." #dirtypointdropped
Milner, Ibe, Clyne and Moreno are all very good crossers of the ball and all started. Clyne was sloppy in possession and didn't push on enough and Moreno I can't recall making one cross either. Milner was just bland as usual. Yes, Benteke might be our plan B and the team might play worse when he starts, but we didn't even attempt to ****ing cross to the lad from out wide and that's what he thrives off. We had enough quality on that pitch today to win, but the players put no effort into it and Newcastle wanted it far more.
Also - we did put crosses in the box. Benteke is just too lazy to actually move and get on the end of them.
That's a point. He's a ****ing lamppost. Give Lovren his due, he wins balls at both ends, even though he doesn't really threaten the goal with his limp headers. Benteke expects the ball to hit him.
We put in 1 from what I remember.... Moreno's pass along the floor to no one in the middle (someone should have tried to get in there but didn't). Other than that we didn't put anything in... not even a decent corner in first 3 minutes!
Cheered me up a little but not as much as the vodka will starting at 7pm. all I need then to block the memory of the game out is for sisu to come to give me something to laugh at.
