... he gave everything trying to continue it and had perhaps should have ... he'll have sleepless nights about the one in the first half when clean through ... but he put in another fabulous shift ... epitomised when he went shoulder to shoulder with Ashley Williams in a fair challenge that sent the bigger man flying ...
The United board has gone very quiet as well....who would have thought United and Chelsea had lots of glory hunting fans who mysteriously disappear when the going gets tough eh #shockhorror
To be fair to United fans, it's hard to comment on a game unless you manage to stay awake through the whole thing.
The United board hasn't gone quiet at all! That's easy to say but very difficult to prove. There's a collective, disappointed acceptance going on. By the way, you describe our position as "tough". Dippers would soil themselves to be in our tough position!
Today could see a meltdown of tremendous proportions on the Toon board. Alternatively it could see a mini meltdown on the 'champions elect' board if reality slaps them in the grid. Only a draw can spoil the fun.
Liverpool fans will be furious with a draw and I can't say that I'd blame them. Newcastle seem to be on a distinctly downward trajectory and I'd be very surprised if that changed today. Perhaps something like a stupid sending off could swing it to the Geordies, but I think we're all expecting one result, including the home fans.
We were all expecting Chelsea to beat Bournemouth and The Saints to do Villa. Football doesn't always read the script.
Very true. I'd be more surprised by Liverpool failing to beat Newcastle than either of those results, though. The 2nd team on Merseyside are on decent form, their hosts aren't. Chelsea and Southampton haven't been playing well recently, even though their opponents have been worse.
Liverpool were ****e last week at home to Swansea and only won courtesy of a very lucky penalty. People have been jizzing off over their win on Weds, but they could and should have been 2 down in the opening 15 mins of that game. I agree that Newcastle have been absolutely ****e, but I don't see today's game as a banker away win tbh,
Since Klopp took over their form is: P:11, W:7, D:3, L:1. They may not have dominated every game, by any means, but he's improved their results. Newcastle have been very poor recently and even their one recent win (Bournemouth) saw them getting badly outplayed for 90 minutes. I hope that the Geordies can get something today, but I doubt that they will.
He's got to go surely ? Terrible manager in my opinion. I remember a few years ago when he was dragging Sunderland into a relegation battle, a supporter broke from the stands, walked over to the dugout and threw his season ticket at McClaren. A few weeks later he was made England manager and we all know how well that went !
