Well I don't want to depend on luck. It's no good just waiting for better luck with injuries, as it might not happen.

None of us do, but its part and parcel of the game - bad luck with injuries to Snodgrass and others last season certainly played a part in our relegation. So did things like Dawson being off the pitch when Burnley scored their winner at the KC because of a nose bleed. And if Brady's 2 shots against the post against Burnley go in, then its a different story. These are the "small margins" that managers often speak of and success or failure can depend on them. Having said all of that I think we have a squad capable of getting promotion injuries or no injuries

Well im afraid to say there is not much between the top teams so injuries could be the difference, the teams which keep their better players on the pitch for me will be the ones that go up any of the teams in the top six that lose key players will suffer so there is nothing wrong with hoping for a bit of luck on the injury front I can promise you

We have the squad alright. So long as Huddlestone and Aluko aren't a part of it we will be right. Without those 2 pricks we were on fire and as soon as Bruce brings them back we turn to ****. Time to **** them both off

There's that, plus last season not going for it in winnable games. Bruce is too naive and stubborn tactically, why else have we been so bad at the start of so many games (not just this season).

I think he had to use it quickly as the rest of it has now blown half way to Norway.

    The contracts excuse ffs.

Cos no other teams have players running out of contract do they. When did this become such a big issue. Oh and of course the transfer window opens again soon so that's another great excuse.

The troops are restless on Twitter...

‘Now I know it's not down to one player but...
    With Huddlestone starting: P12 W4 D5 L3 PPG- 1.41
    Without: P7 W6 D0 L1 PPG- 2.57.'

‘Bored of Bruce's loyalty to Aluko and Huddlestone. Not good enough and never will be.’

‘If they weren't big names, Huddlestone and Diame wouldn't get near this team.’

Bob will undoubtedly tell you that Huddlestone made those twitterers pen those tweets on purpose because he's due his annual time off for Christmas.

After his post match bluster yesterday I'll be interested whether Bruce has the bollocks to back up what he said and drop one or both of the above players.

We improved once Huddlestone and Diame were taken out of the centre. Hudd went to CB and Diame started playing on the right wing (not officially it seemed but he ended up being there the last ten minutes and ran down that side a few times).

I'm not blaming either player but I don't think we can afford to play both centrally together.

That said, what does Aluko offer? I just don't get it. He has one good game followed by five awful ones. I don't criticise our players but with him I just don't get it.

Hopes were high at a windblown Elland Road, as two and a half thousand travelling City fans saw the Tigers waste a hat full of chances to go down two one. City started well with early half chances to Aluko and Diame, and dominated the early exchanges, but were unable to put chances away. After seventeen minutes a half baked protest over the so-called Pie Tax saw some supporters stage a walk out. Pies were on the pitch throughout the game. Then, on twenty minutes, Alex Bruce picked up a knock and was replaced by Curtis Davies. Disaster followed misfortune as on twenty nine minutes Leeds scored a breakaway goal very much against the run of play. A lack of pace in crucial areas is beginning to be a worrying trend. Leeds grew in confidence, hitting the bar through Mowatt following a mistake by Maguire. And then ,just before half time, sloppy defending by City following a corner was punished by Adeyemi. Two nil at half time against a team who had previously won one solitary game at home was a bitter pill to swallow for the City faithful.
City started the second half with purpose, and were rewarded by an early goal from Elmohamady, following a cross from Clucas. Game on. But it wasn’t to be. City attacked with purpose but were unable to convert any of the many chances they created. Diame, Maguire and especially Akpom squandered chances, the last one a sitter. The statistics tell the story. Sixty per cent possession, fifteen efforts on goal, but only four on target. Add in the injuries, and it’s starting to look tough for the Tigers. The sight of Huddlestone in central defence indicated the desperate shortage of fit defenders. Where do we go from here? We need Dawson, we need another defender, and above all a goalscorer, otherwise the best we can hope for is a place in the play offs. On current form, even that looks unlikely. A bad day at the office for Steve Bruce.

Aluko & Diame are not strikers! I can understand us starting with 1 but not both! When a ball is played across the face of the goal they're not there to put it in! This is because they drop deep to collect the ball instead of 1 of them holding a high line against their centre backs. Akpom should have started for 1 of them. This was gonna be a battle won or lost in the midfield & we lost it through not enough players putting a foot in.

Just looked at the table. It's not the first time this season that we've been six points behind Brighton. We can come back again.
