In principle send in our troops but western troops would probably end up causing tribal feuds to erupt - just what DAIS would want - bombing is not ideal but would be an aid to other anti - DAIS factions - us worrying about civilian casualties makes no difference to extremists like DAIS - they don't worry or negotiate

Just seeing this "debate" hours after the event JC.

But with hindsight, would you still stand by that statement?

Sending in western troops should not be considered at present. The Daesh propaganda machine would portray it as an invasion force which would be readily believed by many, many people in the Middle East and beyond. Supporting local forces by airstrikes against them is probably the least worst option we have at this present time..

I am devestated that it has got to this. Innocents have been horribly abused for months, but because they were in Syria or Iraq, or whatever it didn't SEEM to register with the general public. I am appalled by the exodus of so many poor people caught up in a war and children suffering so dreadfully in something they don't understand.
Downing a Russian airliner, shooting tourists and then innocents (all equally dreadful and all simply wrong) in France galvanised opinion and those actions changed everything.
Daesh cannot be allowed to continue this extreme brutality. I heard today (and it is hearsay, but probable) that the daesh had young children playing Russian roulette with weapons. The winner was allowed to shoot captives, the loser had his throat cut by the other children taking part.
We need to wake up to this, it is not something to walk away from, nor is it something for political 'one up man ship'. The daesh are destabilising everything, they (IMO) are truly evil.
I hope that we all start to wake up to the fact that the extremely rich have, in many cases, made their money by dealing with daesh or cashing in on the upturn in arms sales. They should hold their heads in shame and there HAS to be a see change in the ethics of the world to make sure that you will always be found out, if making money from misery!
What really concerns me is that we have seen the corruption that has wormed its way through FIFA, imagine then the corruption in the UN; for me it is the crux of it all, seeped in corruption and blind to the real suffering of the many......otherwise, with the power they have, daesh would never have been allowed to raise its head from the gates of hell.
Yep, been drinking again....off to the spare room, daesh have nothing on the rath of a wife subjected to snoring

Paris attacks: Plot leader 'had UK links'

The ringleader of last month's Paris terror attacks, which killed 130 people, is believed to have connections with the UK, it has been reported.

The man allegedly behind the plot, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, is thought to have links to people in Birmingham, the Wall Street Journal said.

The BBC's Frank Gardner said it was plausible there was social media contact with people in the UK.

The Home Office has not confirmed the report.

Eleven militants took part in the attacks on 13 November, which left 130 people dead and more than 350 wounded.

Abaaoud was killed in a police raid in the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis five days after the attacks.

    Potential plots

The Guardian has also reported that one of the men involved in the Paris attacks visited the UK earlier this year.

The un-named man, the paper says, met people in London and Birmingham "suspected of having the intention and capability of plotting or assisting terrorist activity against the UK".

BBC security correspondent Frank Gardner said Abaaoud was known to have trained as a fighter with the so-called Islamic State and had "criss-crossed between Syria and Europe and back again".

He added that officers from Scotland Yard's counter-terrorism command had been working in Paris since last month's attacks to help with investigations and it was not surprising they would be following up any leads within the UK.

The UK terrorism threat level is currently set at severe - meaning the prospect of an attack is "highly likely".

The government said security plans have been reviewed in the wake of recent events and at least seven potential plots have been foiled in the last year, although not on the same scale as the one carried out in Paris.

Arguing over whether to send troops in... Anybody care to put their hand up and say they know 100% that coalition forces have not already sent in troops of some sort?

People seem to think if the media is not reporting it, it's not happening.

****ing same people say the media is complete bullshit.

Now there are reports of Isis, daesh, or whatever they are called, recruiting large numbers of men in Afghanistan. What a ****ed up situation this world is getting into, this evil is spreading, they are akin to the 'walking dead' and seem to have come straight from hell.

FFS look at what is happening. A man walks though a tourist area a kills anyone he can! a woman, having just had a baby, is supposedly 'radicalised' and goes out with her husband and uses an assault rifle to kill innocent men and women at a party. Radicalised fighters are allowing young children to use a gun to play Russian roulette on 'prisoners' in Syria, there are public beheadings of anyone remotely showing resistance, they use young women as slaves, they kill older women, they destroy anything and everything in their way.
A cancer is worming its way through the soft flesh of the modern world. Unfortunately it is more than likely coming to coming our shores, if not here already. it should have been stopped when it was first reported, years ago, when Saudi were shown to be sending teachers of extream Islam to wherever they could.
It is madness, so wake up! We, our families, our children and our way of life are under attack.
Our military are trying to stop them and they agonise over any possibility of civilian casualties. Isis kill for fun and glorify in it. What a ****ed up world
