Whilst I think David Haye is a big draw and a big pay day for anyone, I'm not convinced that Haye will be able to live up to expectations. 4 years out of action is a long time, and it's hard to believe he can pick up where he left off. From reading a few of the articles on a potential Haye v Fury fight in the future, I think it's highly unlikely that it will ever happen. Fury is determined to not give Haye a payday after Haye didn't give Fury a pay day when he pulled out of 2 fights against him in 2013. Fury even says he would vacate the titles if Haye became mandatory challenger, so I don't think that fight will happen. I think a Haye v Joshua fight is one the Joshua camp would be interested in soon, as it's a big name, but a guy who's been out of the ring a while, so I think it would be an easy opportunity for them to get a big name scalp on his CV. David Haye would obviously take the fight, as it's likely the best pay day he'll get if Fury won't fight him
I agree it is a big doubt whether Haye will return anywhere near his best and I had not seen the Fury quotes Shergs. I do feel however that Fury may change his mind if Haye establishes his credentials again as there will likely be few fights out there for him that could earn a tenth of what a Fury Vs Haye fight could.
I was a big fan of Haye. But he just seems to be in the wrong weight group and has massive physical disadvantages to overcome against people like Fury, Klitschko and Joshua.
For mine Anthony Joshua against Tyson Fury next week, (Fury fit as ****) would see the end of Joshua's unbeaten run. AJ is a pup, or a Novice chaser as Blue pointed out. Fury is a well seasoned pro who's just taken out the best fighter of a generation and in the process ripped four belt from the great man. And to do what nobody has been able to do in a decade, takes some serious effort. Make no mistake, Fury is a legitimate World Champion. And to get to that point, he, like most other champions, has to learn his trade, something young Anthony Joshua is still doing. Joshua has fought nobody, he's fought trees with no branches on them. The only man with cred that he's met is Kevin Johnson, who that night was a pale shadow of the fighter he used to be. That bout was a joke as was the Gary Cornish affair. And Michael Sprott can't be mentioned in the same breath as Tyson Fury. At best, at the moment, Joshua is a serious prospect. I'm aware that I'm just about the only person on the forum who has any time for Dillian White, but he is a heavy fisted, young bloke with a real hunger burning in his gut. He's the only man to take Joshua off his feet. Of course Anthony has come on in leaps and bounds since then, but so too has Whyte. Whyte's problem will be his lack of reach, but if he gets inside, and he should from time to time, he'll cause real damage. Whyte will be the first man to fully test Joshua's chin. And don't forget, Joshua's been rattled in the past. For all of that, Anthony Joshua should be too good on the 12th, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see another upset. A Fury - Joshua fight next week? 1-3. Fury. 3-1. Joshua.
Fury did go on to say that the money wasn't what was important, having just earned 10 million pounds the other night. So I think it would take a massive u turn for him to give Haye a shot. There are other big fights for Fury down the line that could make him plenty of money anyways. A Kiltchko rematch for a start, and then you have Deonta Wilder to unify the heavyweight division in Vegas which would make mega bucks. You also then have AJ after that, which would generate huge interest domestically, and could probably sell out Wembley. So whilst the Haye fight would make a lot of money, i don't think it's the only fight out there for Fury, he's got plenty of options
You are all wrong about the biggest future fight. Eubank v. Benn 3 Followers of celebrity jungle will have heard Eubank Snr say that he'd take on Benn anytime (to be fair he looks fit as a butchers dog, with a 6 pack to die for!) Benn followed up on Twitter saying that he was fit and would take that fight if it was organised. Well ........... last time I saw Nigel Benn he was fatter than me! And I'm not convinced he isn't a bit punchy, so getting a licence could be a problem! But nostalgia sells these days and if the impossible happened and this DID get staged, there would be massive interest. Not least from Eubank junior
This would be a shame in my book as those Eubank and Benn fights from the 90's were among the best domestic fights ever staged, to most fans they finished 1 each, even though Eubank was controversially awarded a draw in the second. Should they go again at an age when they should not even be thinking of such a thing it would tarnish the memory of what they both were, risk serious injury and sadly I fear as Reebs has already pointed out that Eubank has kept himself not far off his physical peak whilst Benn is nothing like. This is not to say he has let himself go but he does not look an athlete anymore. Nigel Benn is probably my number one boxing hero and I would hate to have a memory of a man who should stay retired looking a shadow of what he once was. My abiding memory of Nigel Benn is of the man who was knocked out of the ring by Gerald McClellan, he did not know where he was for a moment, his eyes had gone, his legs had gone.... and yet he struggled back into the ring as only a fighter can, he then staged the biggest comeback I have ever seen. Eubank was also a great fighter with the mental strength of ten men, Eubank was always the better boxer but Benn the better Fighter, and that made for two fantastic fights.
Surely the Benn and Eubank kids can;t be half as good as their fathers, though you never know but that is some shadow to climb out of. Fury at present would beat Joshua, though in 2 years time who knows, a rematch with Wlad is certainly the way to go financially and even if he says he is not motivated by that, you can bet he is really and those around him will want that fight as well.
Mallafets, I think you are right about others wanting the Klitschko fight. In the interview with the ex champ's crew, the one man above all others who looked to really want the Fury- Vlad rematch, was Vitali.
Maybe City. Joshua is certainly a class act. He's well drilled, super fit and has fast hands. And to look at his built up physique, it would be easy to believe he has a massive edge when it comes to power, but fighting is more than that. Both want each other's blood, so anything can happen. Whyte is no easy kill, in fact I think he's probably a lot better than people want to give him credit for. Joshua to look at, is now twice the size he was when beaten by Whyte, he's hugely bulked up since that fight. He should win against Whyte, but the smaller man has also come on leaps and bounds since then. And blind Freddy can see that he can bang. I hope it turns out to be one hell of a battle royale.
I'm inclined to agree mate. If Whyte didn't have 'that' amateur win over Joshua this fight wouldn't even be happening. If Joshua has been accused of fighting bums then the guys who Whyte has been fighting can barely be described as boxers! I've not really been impressed by what I've seen from Whyte, yes he's got some power but has next to no defence and seems quite slow. I think it'll go past the 1st round because AJ will be wary of the power but once he figures out a way through then it's lights out! I can't believe it's on box office, it's ridiculous
I see the rematch clause has been officially activated by Mr Klitschko. Rumours abound that it'll be at Wembley stadium, I'm not convinced that'll sell, maybe they should look at Old Trafford or Etihad, have a bit of a homecoming for Fury. I think there's a strong chance it could happen in Germany again. I think we'll see a different Klitschko in the next fight and we'll have to see a different Fury, I can't see the same tactics working again. Klitschko by stoppage my early prediction. I would like the champ to fight someone else before the rematch but I can't see them risking that.
Totally agree, Whyte is fat and slow. I honestly believe it will be over in one round. I paid for the fight last week and although this bill is a lot better there are still going to be lots of one sided fights so can't see me paying for this
I can see me eating crow here guys, but I think we might just see a half decent fight. On another matter though, will Fury vacate the IBF title? He's been given 30 days to come to an agreement with Glazkov. Will he maybe fight Glazkov then Klitschko, the other way around, or walk away from the IBF?
They'll probably pay Glazkov off or vacate the title under the condition that Tyson's cousin Hughie gets a shot at it. Tyson has always said when he became world champion he'd vacate a belt and let his cousin fight for it. There'll be some money changing hands whatever happens, but I can't see him having a fight before Klitschko rematch
Kathy Duva is playing a blinder. Knowing that Vlad will be first cab off the rank due to the return clause, Duva's informing the IBF that she's calling for a purse bid, has pretty much killed the IBF belt for Tyson. Duva is now chatting with Fury's group and those of Wilder. So it looks like no matter what happens, Duva's man Glazkov will get a crack at a title. If both of these deals fall through, Glazkov gets to fight for a then vacated IBF belt. The word is that the man most likely to be the other half of the fight is Charles Martin. Looks like the titles are fracturing already.
