Great night but a harsh result, we gifted them their goals and when you're playing against £200 million + worth of talent that's the last thing you need. I can't believe the 'die-hard' Manchester City faithful who supposedly stuck with the club through thick and thin couldn't even fill half their ground and got bored after going 2-0 up so went home. A few years ago the prospect of a game to reach the cup semi-final would have been huge to those fans, now they are complacent, possibly even bored with success. They are slowly becoming like Manchester United, filling their ground with tourists and moaning when they win because they didn't play well enough. The fact the 5,000 Hull City fans that made the journey on a Tuesday night to see their team get beat 4-1 and had a better time says it all.
That's ridiculous, they can't even get the players right, it was Odubajo who Bony beat to the rebound not Bruce and it was Elmo on the line for the free-kick not Maguire. I don't care if the report is biased (although it shouldn't be) but to get players mixed up when you have a team-sheet, the players have massive numbers on their back and there are video replays is just inexcusable.
Agreed ^^^ this, to a point. Both teams had key players missing through injury but Man City started with there best available 11 for sure. SB did what I and many others expected him to do with bigger games coming up this month. The squad players did a very good job overall and whilst the RESULT WAS CORRECT the score was not. However it was plain to see yet again that mistakes at that level cost you games just like last season and cause PL relegation. The good news is that the performance can be taken into December starting with TWS who are light years away from Man City's quality.
We went to Englands best full strength side, with half a championship B team, and had a go. We actually gave them a game, and if we'd have gone full strength there's a chance we could have got something. Silly errors led to all their goals, we weren't picked apart and well beaten, they didn't create for themselves anything clear cut and we had chances of our own but the difference was they took theirs, we didn't. In the premier league we would have lined up with 9 defenders and one striker trying to score on his own. We'd have looked **** and probably struggled to muster a single shot on target whilst being under constant pressure and kept in the game by a string of absolutely superb saves by the goalkeeper. Hopefully Brucey saw something there, and with Leicester, Swansea, Southampton etc over recent years that you're better off trying to win every game. 3 points is available every game, there is no need to set up for damage limitation.
ⓒⓕ @cfmcfc Fantastic away support from Hull, probably the best away support to come to the Etihad apart from Sheffield Wednesday #mcfc #hcafc
Maguire was terrific last night. Assured on the ball & liked getting stuck in. Just wish we hadn't started Akpom & Aluko, cos they were pathetic.
I actually didn't think Aluko was too bad. He was basically running the front on his own with nothing but scraps to try and pick up, and whilst he didn't really create much, he wasn't particularly wasteful either which is his usual criticism. He played an excellent ball between defenders for Akpom but Chuba just didn't see it or react quick enough to get it, would have been one on one if that had come off. He was a lot more useful than Akpom regardless.
elmo for the second goal was criminal, jogging back leaving moses 2 on 1. Until then i thought we looked odds on for a equaliser! Great stadium though just a shame it was so empty
I agree Aluko looked quite handy, it looks like he's been training hard. The lads looked like they were enjoying themselves in the second half and even at the final whistle, they didn't seem to disgruntled. Maguire had a stormer; I think it's safe to say if he can play like that against a team that'll probably win the Premier League, he'll be able to cut it in the top flight. Great to see Snodgrass back and I wasn't expecting too much after 15 months out but at least he got some game time and hopefully he'll feature against his former club. Diame looks a lot more effective in the centre of midfield, I really hope he doesn't play up front again as he goes missing too much. Him to start in midfield alongside Livermore with Hernandez and Aluko up front would be a decent combination.
Those ****ing roadworks have been moving up & down the M62 for nearly 10 years, **** knows what they're doing as all I ever see, when I'm back, is the works have moved to a different section, with still no one working there & still an unknown reason for 50mph speed limit! Which is regularly broken but I don't want any tickets so I'm crawling along behind the truck that's trying to overtake another truck at 52mph!
Got to agree with everyones comments about McGuire he was outstanding, we have seen comments re his speed as one part of his game thats a problem but I did not see him losing any footraces last night? Re Diame impressive player but do we lose our shape when he comes on? Like the idea of him in the middle and Hernandez (who was sharp when he had the ball last night) and Aluko could be a good combo up top. And like you thought he was decent last night.
Just from the highlights, all their goals were poor from our point of view. Jakupovic watching that free kick go in right next to him was just bizarre. Odubajo should have blocked Bony's shot. Akpom running away from it for the first was just laughable.
Hope Chuba does not know how to use Twitter otherwise he will feel as though he has a bit of a hangover this morning. http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/12/0...on-twitter-to-chuba-akpoms-performance-v-ma/?
We looked a completely different team when he came on last night, if he changes our shape when he comes on, it's for the better.
