Robertson Maguire Hayden If Diame stated he'd have been top by miles. Thought Robertson was unlucky with the header for the goal to be honest
Maguire Diame Robertson one of Odubajo's better games - Livermore played well too - on the other hand, Akpom should be sent back to Arsenal, hopeless albeit typical of Brucies failure to buy decent strikers, Taylor just isn't good enough by a long way and whilst Junior was the right choice to protect Davies for more important games, he kept going to ground too easily, was constantly skinned and at fault for the second goal because he was too slow and failed to cut out the cross - all in all, a disappointing result / last 10 minutes but bearing in mind the players who were rested, not totally unexpected - let's just hope he can get us promoted now
To be fair to Bruce, I dont think signing Taylor was ever based on him being 'good enough' for a starting spot. I'm pretty sure he was signed to sit on the bench to cover a multitude of positions following injury or sending offs. Sorry for the deviation, I didnt watch the game so cant vote.
maguire robertson diame ditto whats been said about ackpom ackpom and aluko chased back a couple of times but their movement when we were going forward was poor. i hope this new striker whenever he appears is decent because we are very light up front.
Maguire Robertson Diame Can't believe how many people have said Livermore, I thought last night was one of his worst games for a long time albeit against the best opponent we've played against for months.
Robertson Maguire Diame Thought Bruce should have had Taylor off earlier as he was playing out of position (another one!!!) and was all at sea in midfield most of the game, but he was too early with the other subs. once Diame came on, we actually looked capable of scoring and the link up play improved 100%. Think the later subs spoilt our balance let Man City run riot on their breakaways. This despite Chubba's problems of chasing back, he started to look good once he got some service. Snodgrass didn't have time to get up to speed with the game but needs to play more asap because he looks over his injury, not afraid to use his left peg for a corner. Shaun Goater on BBC Manchester radio said that by k eeping it tight most of the game, we denied them chances, but once we opened up, it played into their hands with quick breakaway goals coming.
I think that is about right, with 10 minutes to go we had to try and get a goal and as soon as we started to push for that they took advantage of the space behind.
I was impressed with the way he took to the captain's role - getting between our players and the ref when they were getting worked up and losing focus (e.g. Elmo). Also he had to absorb a lot of the mid field work that Man C bring to the game with less support than he'd have had with Meyler there.
