Hi guys was just wondering what your take on your club is? For Me Newcastle have always been a sleeping giant who I feel could be contenders in any competition with the right Manager and Chairman combination. I have a soft spot for some reason with Newcastle probably helped by your Local Hero entrance theme, and always seem to go them on FIFA Career and FM anyway guys was just wondering what your hopes for this great club are?
1. Secure Premier League status 2. World domination 3. Donna Air to realise I'm the man of her dreams.
Not sure anymore, without major investment we're unlikely to challenge for honours. I would like to see the club built up over time, with investment in youth much the same way Wenger has done at Le Arse. Not sure I'd like to buy the title like City are likely to do but would like to see more money put into the club.
Thanks for the compliment, means a lot As for our intentions, it's hard to say. I'd like to say top 10(as we finished 12th last year) so it would be nice to see some progress. I reckon we'll be about the same place unless we get a striker in. The second season syndrome doesn't worry me, but safety first. Once we get the 40 points, I think we should look to raise the bar a bit. It would be nice to see progress on last year.
The highest realistically achievable position for the next few seasons is 7th. Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, and probably Liverpool should have the places above that locked up. Below that though there's not much quality, and it's very open. Aston Villa are very weak at the moment, Everton have no money, Blackburn are weak. Stoke, Fulham, and Sunderland are probably the most likely competitors, and, maybe I'm wrong, but I think Newcastle has a better team than they have. That's not to say I'm expecting 7th, but it is what the club should be aiming for.
I think mid-table this year (unless we get a really top striker), with hopefully a push for top 10 and then push on from there
If all things were equal I think we'd be challenging for the top four each year, our academy can hold its own and in terms of revenue we're right up there. Man U are way out in front, then Arsenal, probably Liverpool third, but we'd easily be a match for Chelsea, City and Spurs if the former two's owners weren't pumping billions in. I think Robson and Keegan showed what the club is capable of. When Robson was here the average age of the squad was about 21 and we were in the Champions League and had consecutive league finishes of 4th, 3rd and 5th. A lot of pundits were tipping us for the Premier League, and the ones who weren't said we would in the next couple of seasons once our young squad had matured. Then Freddy Shepherd had to stick his oar in. Ultimately Robson would've left anyway in a season or to due to his health and his age, but with the age and talent in the squad and the size of the club it would've been one of the most attractive jobs in Europe, but nobody wanted to be the manager Sir Bobby was sacked for. It was all down here from there, Ashley came in and things even worse. I honestly think we have the manager to do well, Pards isn't in the same league as Robson and Keegan but I still think very highly of him. The owner (and his buffoon of a chairman) hold the club back. If we had someone sensible, who let the manager do his own thing and invested in a decent youth structure (which to his credit, I think Ashley has tried to do) and reinvested the clubs income into the first team, under the financial fair play rules we could be a force again. Ashley will always hold us back though.
Something along the lines of "I know someone on the internet who wants to bone your daughter" should do it.
I agree. Those 6 teams should comfortably occupy the top 6 spots. I think the rest of the positions are wide open. It just depends on how much we spend, how well we spend and how well the players gel together.
