Therefore those that are writing us off and saying that it will take a number of years before we're a top four side..will soon be eating their words.I'm convinced that we're two players short squad wise of our 2009 level.
literally next sentence he says left back and centre back mate! Possible forwards- Carroll, Suarez, Kuyt, NGog Possible wingers- Downing, Henderson, Kuyt, Maxi, Cole, Suarez, Gerrard Possible Midfielders- Adam, Aquilani, Mereiles, Lucas, Gerrard, Spearing, Henderson, Downing That selection is surely as dangerous and well-equipped as nearly any team in the league. Throw in in my opinion the best Keeper (Reina) and right back (Johnson) in the league, if he stays on form, and we're going to be a tough side to play against.
Skrtels Nips. If you put it that way...we've got a formidable squad.I still think we need a centre back because we don't want to be left with Skrtel and Kyriagkos at some stage as our only options. They as a pair don't give me much confidence.
About time this was settled. Aqua could be huge for us this year, be it in cups, gaining a starting place and playing up to the standards he can reach, or being a spark off the bench to break teams down. Also think he is better than meireles ( imo). Seems Spearing is going on loan so that opens another spot. The way he has played this pre-season i would not be surprised to see Lucas ( depending on when he comes back), Adam, and Aqua as our starting three.
As has been the case for the vast majority of the last 2 decades you are setting yourself up for disappointment. I can see you getting CL eventually but alot of hard work will need to be put in. Players like Adam and Downing are certainly not going to get you there but they will add strength to the side and a bit of graft. Within 5 years you will be back in the CL, regularly? not sure as I have a feeling 4th spot could end up being a different team every season for a while.
UIR. What players look like on paper and what they do on the pitch are two entirely things. Man United proved that you can win the league with average players. Now Carrick and Anderson and Gibson aren't even good players, but they fit into a unit and were successful.Even Nani and Valencia aren't top drawer players either and they too were successful. I reckon that Downing and Adam and Henderson when they fit into a unit can be successful.
What do you suggest we do- sit back and say "we're **** and we know it, lets not even bother this year"? Nothing wrong with a bit of well balanced optimism.
Saintanton. UIR is convinced Man United are the only team capable of winning the league with no world class players.Liverpool however have two in Reina and Suarez.
First off we have top top class players. I wont say world class as there's only 2 of those imo. The likes of Rooney, Nani, Vidic, VDS, Evra ( tailed off last season ) are in the class below. Game changes/savers. To say Nani isnt top drawer aswell is a bit silly. He is the best winger in the league, up their with the best wingers in the world if not the best. Yes from March he wasnt amazing but before that he tore teams apart and was amazing.
Lads, you forget in planet plankchester the following rules apply. 1. Any player who pulls on an AIG shirt, automatically is upgraded to "world class" 2. Barcelona are not better than Man United, they got lucky 3. Wayne Rooney is not just a good player, he is better than Messi 4. Sir Aulky of Paisley, got his knighthood for football matters..Not because he bunged the labour party a huge wedge of cash. 5. Nani is not a diver, he has an ear infection which causes balancing issues.
Lets just forget about Liverpool vs Manchester United and get back on topic. Anyone who makes any further references to Manchester United will be reported.
Potentially, yes. With the squad optimistic, good morale all round and players with some good pre-season behind them, Aquilani will thrive on the opportunity to create goals and exploit defences. He has that defence-splitting pass, as does Adam, this could be interesting.
IMO he is good enough, but two things: Firstly, he's got a lot of competition, we've no idea what starting line-up(s) Kenny has in mind. Secondly, he still has to show that he's strong enough physically. Certainly he looks to have the quality.
