I thought McClaren would do alright I honestly did. Up until the Bournemouth game I still had belief as we'd played well but not got results (Chelsea should have won, Stoke should have won and some gritty performances versus Man Utd, Arsenal, etc.) but the last three games we've been dire. Bournemouth, Leicester and Crystal Palace have all destroyed us - that is just a bleak situation. I think we lost confidence through the hard run of fixtures early on and now we're simply bottling it. We aren't cut adrift at this point, Moyes is available, it's a month until the transfer window and Ashley will spend as he knows he needs to. Beginning to come around to the idea of sacking McClaren and I'm usually one of the patient ones. Two more games to get at least a couple of points and if not then take action.
He proved over the summer and yesterday he hasn't got the balls to drop him or Sissoko, making no difference, change needed IMO. Moyes would be great if we could get him.
Anyone can pick stats to suit their argument, that was mine. He's got more of a winning pedigree than anyone we've had since Robson and also compared to people we're getting linked with like Moyes. I seriously think the players are to blame for this mess, and no matter who else comes in we're still ****ed because they genuinely don't give a **** what happens. Any manager will face an uphill battle with that lot.
I think the only thing that would make this photo better is if Tufty exposed the top of his bonce to the camera. Oh wait, hang on. please log in to view this image
Of course it's the players that means we're a **** team. However, the squad should not be getting relegated, and shouldn't have so few points at this stage, and the reason we do is because McLaren doesn't get the best out of what he has.
Who is it that continues to pick Coloccini and Sissoko? Who dropped Mitrovic for that bag of ****, Cisse? McClaren.
See what he said on bbc website. That we are doing the right things in training and the players are showing a lot of effort. Well that's all ok then. We don't need to do it when it really matters just on non match days. He really is a muppet. The training sessions probably look good because bad players training with each other makes them look better. They are bad players and that squad is the worst we have had in years. Without significant investment in the January transfer window we are going down. At the moment in time I can't see where our next point comes from. Liverpool will come at us fast and furious and our slugs don't like that. Spurs are just on a roll at the moment. So that's another defeat. So after 16 games we will have won 2 drawn 4 and lost 10. If you take our last 22 games of last season we won 4 drawn 4 and lost 14. So over the last 38 premiership games we won 6 drawn 8 lost 24. That's 26 points.
So Shearer was right then, we have too many Monday to Friday players. FFS you don't get any points in training. Basically McClaren is admitting we lack competitive spirit.
Problem is, go through our squad and list the players you want to keep... I'd have Krul, Janmaat, Mbemba, Colback, Wijnaldum, Perez. So just 6 players that are definite first team quality, one of which is injured for the season. Jury is out on De Jong & Mitro. Players I'd gladly see leave are anyone not named above. We basically have 6 ok players, 4 of which are decent (Janmaat, Gini, Mbemba & Perez), Colback can do a job provided he's not asked to do more than he's capable of. Out of the above 6 Janmaat, Perez and Gini are all out of form. No manager will change this over night. With immediate affect what Steve does need to do is drop Colo & Sissoko. We're stuck with Dummett unfortunately. He needs to get Tiote fit and in the team, at least he attempts to put a challenge in. At the moment it's impossible for us to field a team of 11 competent players.
Of all the names mentioned so far: Moyes, Rogers, Laudrup, Bruce, Pearson, etc I honestly think I'd prefer Pearson. He built a decent team at Leicester and brought in most of the players that are serving them so well this season. He wouldn't be my first choice (not sure who would be) but the others in that list just fill me with despair. He also has a connection with the club which might make him more likely to take the job on.
I'd rather stick with mclaren than any ofvtje names listed. There's no point replacing one vegetable for another which is what we do everytime. We've had one good manager since keegan in Robson. Look who Watford have and Leicester have Ranieri both top draw managers. I guess im saying to broaden our ****ing horizons a bit and move away from the British idiots still taking up jobs despite football having moved on lightyears from their models.
I agree with this. I think we'd opt for Moyes if McLaren is given the boot though. It's a pointless discussion really though, we just don't get rid of managers anymore. I mean the sound bites from the media are that we'll get rid if the threat of relegation looms. We're currently second bottom, have beaten only two newly promoted teams with both wins involving a lot of luck and have conceded the most goals in the division. Is it not already looming??? I want us to keep Steve to be fair, I expect us to lose the next two but he needs a win against Villa, anything but a win and he can't complain if he gets sacked, it'll be two wins out of 17 at that point. As I said, there are players out there that can inject some fight in to us and I believe could join us. Carroll, Austin, Townsend, Shelvey, Dawson, Robertson, even Elmohammady. I'm not saying people like Dawson are long term options, but he is a heart on sleeve defender, a leader of players, he's everything Colo isn't. He's far from the greatest player, but the next 6 months will define where we are long term so we need to amend this not signing players over 28 garbage and at least give the manager a chance.
Then the players can **** off!!! They shouldn't need to buy into the manager. They should buy into the club and the shirt they are privileged enough to wear. Most of them can **** off anyway. We need someone to come in and make them realise that they are servants of this club and not the ****ing other way around!!
I understand what you're saying, however this isn't reality. Egos exist in our dressing room and a confidence crisis I guarantee Leicester players and Watford players felt two inches talker when Ranieri and flores walked in the room. If had more than 2 British first team players it might suit a British idiot, however we already have one, so why swap one for another!? I'd only be interested if we brought someone with even a smidgen of wow factor because it would give the club a lift.
