It was the inexplicable decision to give Coloccini a new contract that has undone McLaren more than anything. At a time when we should have been moving him on and finding a new CB and new captain they thought they could get away with Colo for another couple of seasons as it was cheaper than buying a new player. It has backfired spectacularly and frankly Coloccini is the worst defender in the league right now.
Easy way out as always. Cheap option. Some thought colo was good enough, some think haidara and/or dummett are good enough! We needed mbemba and two other defenders who knew the league
CB, LB, CM and CF as a minimum. All with a lot of top flight experience, preferably Premier League - no time for settling in.
Seriously we need about £200 million to keep us up and be anygood long term. Before anyone questions that sum remember who you're dealing with
I think it could be as important to get rid of certain players in January as well. There is cancerous clique in the dressing room who need to **** off quite frankly.
Shelvey, Townsend, Austin and a proven CB that has premier league experience will sort us. I imagine the first three would cost 30m with another 10m for the CB. We're far from down but we're in a mess, we need to take the captaincy off Colo, drop Sissoko and somehow get Gini playing in the middle because he definitely isn't a wide player. I'd go something like this: Elliott Janmaat, Mbemba, Lascelles, Dummett Tiote Gini. Colback De Jong Cisse, Mitro Play a diamond, we can't cross for **** so no point playing with wingers. I don't think Lascelles is ready yet but Colo has been a disgrace the past two games, as has Sissoko. I also think Perez needs a break.
Ashley will sack him, however he's doing a good job not doing it too fast because it might mean there is still someone stupid enough to take the job if they think they have a chance.
Haidara for me or anyone that can even run first and formost. After I'd established they can run and ask them to demonstrate a pass with either foot and if they suceed they're good enough to get in this side.
I can't believe we have reached this point on Sunday, after three of the worst consecutive performances of an PL side, and McLaren ain't gone. Forget signings, forget it! We won't get any anyway, but the board have decided our fate already today. It's gone too far, and it's too late. We are going down ladies and gents x
Anyone is a step up from steve. He reminds me of that man who used to hang around the school playground pretending to pick up his kids but he has no wife or partner, let alone a child and he always has one of them big cream jackets on that hangs down to the ground with his hands hidden but suspiciously shacking as if he was stroking a cat.......
