Tony Pulis speaks with forked tongue. However Chester needs to see out this season(if possible) and look at things in the summer. What with the Saido Berahino issues still bubbling under the surface all does not appear well @ the Baggies. Patience will have to be the key for now.
I'm so pleased you beat me to it Bo - as you rightly say, Chester/Davies were the main pairing with Junior there for when we played 3 at the back. We bought Dawson and (allegedly) CD took issue with it. Dawson replaced Davies and was a brilliant pairing with Chester, Junior remained as third man, CD was reduced to playing cup games and sick cover.
Davies also had some off pitch issues(away from the kc) which showed in his performances last season. In saying that they were nothing like as bad as his form last season when he did play.
That's why I used the ''allegedly'', I have no idea, nor do I need to know, what goes in the background - for whatever reason, SB, the guy who sees the players everyday, saw Curtis as fourth, possibly even fifth choice centre-back. I'm glad he's regained form and hope to see him back in the side soon.
When Davies was at his best, he was a constant. Bruce, Chester and McShane (before his injury) made up the other numbers. That's why Davies had morew appearances than the others. Last season Davies went off the boil & was rightly dropped by Bruce.
There's only two Curtis Davies Two Curtis Davies One's playing like ****, cos a baby's not his The other's shagging in a slapper wonderland.
West Brom are playing with four centre backs against West Ham in this Super Sunday game. All four centre backs are across the back four. Slightly odd. Chester not one of them. He's on the bench.
Bloody hell if Chester is a classy ball playing centre half, then young U21 centre half Clappison must be worth holding onto then, way more pace than Chester, taller and very comfortable on the ball with both feet.
Apparently he was told he was starting, his family have all gone and he arrived to be told he's been dropped to the bench.
