It was hard to beat 2010 as the worst season in F1 history.. But at least the championship was good. This year the championship and the racing was bad. About time it's ended really.
The whole thing was pretty diabolical. We just dont really have much action going on. Artificial DRS passes aside, the complete differential in power units means the whole thing is pretty stale. You had the World Champ works Mercdes team 1-2, and the works Ferrari 3-4, at nice managed intervals, followed by good chassis Renault cars in Toro Rosso and Red Bull, being challenged by rigid, bang average chassis' being powered by Merc customer engines negating the gap. It has been the same order, all season. In almost every race. Mercedes final call there just about summed it all up for me. I don't see how it can change with limited testing? I dont understand how teams can truly grow and be innovative to bridge the gaps?
Damn, think I agree with everything you said there. Race specifically, the Toro Rosso's made some exciting moves. Button gave us a valiant performance. Raikkonen, Grosjean, Perez ended on a high. Season wise, barring a couple of races it was 2 by 2 thats fair to say. And we were deprived of what Button and Alonso had to offer in a good car.
All in all, pretty shocking. Tin hat on here, but the racing rules/standards need to be clarified so everybody is singing from the same hymn sheet. In addition the inconsistency by the stewards has heightened the issue IMO.
I didn't watch the race, I recorded it. Is it worth watching at all for any reason whatsoever? Can't believe I'm asking that. Pretty much sums up the condition of the sport though.
It wasn't bad really. A few moments of action. Interesting fact. Hamilton scored less points this year than 2014 where as rosberg scored more than he did last year. How stupid was that double points thing last year.
I may run through it then. Gotta hope 2016 has more to offer than 2015. This season has been utter garbage.
I think Merc bullshit just ruined it for me. At least have the balls to stand by your conviction and say we're not going to let them race!
Thank God that's over. Good to see a Ferrari/Vettel resurgence, giving some hope for some kind of competition next year. Verstappen, Sainz and Kyviat, give hope for the future. Other than that, not much of interest for me.
I really don't think it is that harsh to be honest. There's been a couple of bright spots, but in the main it's been unbelievably dull.
So, Lewis seems to be at a loss. Wrong tyre strategy, can't overtake...err some others did, with two DRS zones so close with the right aggression he could. If the WDC was still being fought he would have done a better job. He has taken his foot off the peddle, no matter what else he says. I actually think he is beginning to fall out of love with F1. He is maturing late as an individual, Ron summed it up in that context. As such, there is a certain amount of rebellion going on. His one word answers in the press room show he is not opening up, is not too impressed with the process. I have to say, when you see the press conferences pre race they are enough to turn any driver to boredom, let alone viewer. I don't think it is the car change that changed Lewis's performance, it was his mental state. Better now than at the start of next season, As for the season, we need to see a real multi team challenge next year, Ferrari and it would be good to see Red Bull and McLaren getting in the mix too. I am not discounting Williams but as a customer of Merc it will be harder for them. For once, not disappointed to see the end of this season. We need new personalities at the top, Lewis and Nico are becoming boring.
It seems like Mercedes were teaching Lewis a lesson here. They said last time that if Lewis dictated an alternative strategy they would lose and be worse off. Abu Dhabi was proof.
I took that away from the weekend too, have to show him what he was asking for in the last couple of races wouldn't of worked.
