He does. They have plenty of freedom. Look at the likes of Shaw, Memphis, Martial, Rooney, Herrera. They're in no way restricted. Most make bad decisions regularly but that's on them.
Not at all. LVG tells them to go out and play like Barcelona, but when they go onto the pitch they all decide to ignore him and play like Bolton. Imagine it, the whole team playing cluless, backpasses and sidepasses ad-infinitum on a whim. And poor old LVG just sits there looking at the filofax in his lap Desperate straw clutching to absolve the manager of any blame. It's ok, we should just accept this dire dull pedestrian football but not the results.. bcos apparently one is not related to the other in any way
...Ulloa probably should have won it for us and De Gea made a pretty good stop from Mahrez in the first half ..Albrighton should have put Vardy in on goal second half with the ball fractionally too high .. you had loads of possession but little penetration .. van see why you are grinding out results but the football isn't particularly easy on the eye .. good luck until the return ..
The Ulloa chance was you big one bar the goal. We had a few more, BFS having the best one of ours bar the goal. Draw was fair in the end though I think we could have nicked it on the balance of things.
So how come when it comes to shots at goal you are 16th in the table? Are you happy with the way LVG sets his side up to play? Does it excite you? Has the side improved under LVG attacking wise this season?
No TODAY is the first time it's happened. The fact people have been pointing it out for 12 months is neither here nor there. This is all knee-jerk based on today's game apparently. You're clearly watching a different United to the rest of us Valley. We dazzle. I was with my mate watching the game and at one point... on 62 minutes we counted 18 consecutive passes which were no more than 5 yards, sideways and backways on the half way line. It was glorious to see. Received a standing ovation in the pub
The players being to cautious, over playing it together with the opposition putting 10 defenders in every game. I would go with that. If we were playing false 9s, no attackers of any kind then yes, it would all be on van Gaal. As it is, we have quite a few attacking players. We've been on a poor run of scoring form so perhaps its a case of confidence. Its a pretty big thing in football, the most average players cab look great when confidence is flowing.... See Vardy. He sets us up well. There's nothing overly wrong on that front. Were solid and well versed for the most part. So the set up is fine. Its a good mixture of youth and experience on the pitch. The wrong player is captain and that's an issue for the team and van Gaal. Rooney's been given this responsiblity and he's not delivering. BFS should be captain based on the last few games. He's got the drive we need from the on field leader. Sometimes its boring. Rarely for whole games but still a little to often. We do struggle to break sides down at times but we rarely ever look like losing. Losing is boring. Its the most boring and worst part of the game. In 99% of games I expect is to win so there's always anticipation something will happen, tbf, it usually does too. I've seen many patient games against a well parked bus under Fergie for years so you get used to it. No we haven't improved in attack. Else where we have but work to be done up front. January window will be interesting.
Away to the league leaders, whoever they are in late November. A points a point and nicking all three would have been great. Most United fans would have been happy with a win, irrespective of how it came today as we would have looked at the bigger picture.
But you have just bought the new Ronaldo and Henry for £65 million not to mention the white Pele, Herrera and Mata etc.
Don't know if you have noticed but the new "Ronaldo and Henry" are very inconsistent (as were the old pair at their age), the "white Pele" was finished 4 years ago, Herrera is injured and Mata was well off the pace today.
I don't agree at all. When you say he sets us up well do you mean how it looks on screen as shown by Sky or BT? Got to agree, the team always looks really good doesn't it? So why does it play so ****e? It can not be because they are all coincidently 'out of form' all the same time. That's just pie in the sky nonsense. They're just not buying into (and are probably utterly depressed by) the way they are told to play. Honestly, what the **** is everyone so bloody scared of? Our defence is solid, do we really need TWO deep lying holding CM's? Really? No, do we ****. We're United, who do we have to be frightened of attacking? Herrera has to play as one of the CM's alongside ONE of Carrick, Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin. One of them has to play a genuine attacking link to attack, what we currently have is stilting, pedestrian nonsense. Until Herrera is fit Schneiderlin is probably best suited to the role, give him some freedom and let him push forward. I also wish everyone would just stop with the blame Rooney ****e. He's not playing well, and I would personally drop him now to be fair, but it is not his fault the side is playing the way it is. At all.
What I'm saying is, he could buy Ronaldo, Bale and Messi and they wouldn't score because LVG doesn't allow them to pass the ball forwards. It's sideways, back etc. Rather than attack, it's safety first for him, which, surely is unacceptable for a club with your history and tradition etc.
Erm created the most chances for one. What's the point of having the majority of possession and do nothing with it. You were toothless up front and don't recall Schmeichel being troubled too much as your keeper wasn't either. Your midfield move the ball so slowly. Overall a fair result. We were no where near our best so I've got to be happy with a draw I suppose but you were there for the taking.
Last season United fans were boasting about possession stats. Less so this season. We told them how little possession mattered last year but they would not listen
If that was true then it would be unacceptable, yes. The fact is he believes in keeping control of the ball, not safety first. If you listened to his interview after the game, he said he brought Memphis on "to run behind the defence" because Rooney and Martial "did not do that". It is not the first time he has made comments like this, he expects strikers to make runs that can be picked out by the rest of the team, if the run isn't there the pass goes elsewhere to keep possession.
