A bit like amateur day at the seaside from the camera person but still well worth a watch for the bonanza of goals -
FA Youth Cup - 3rd Round This is where we join the tournament and have been given a home draw against either Scunthorpe or Bury (their second round tie is next Tuesday). The game is scheduled for 19 December apparently with a 7pm kick off - nobody playing at the Cottage that day ... mmm, I wonder!? [We were meant to be playing Norwich in the League on the 19th but presumably that will be re-arranged.]
Fulham 5 Spurs 3 (U18s) What a cracking win by the youngsters and not done anything like justice by the Club report – ”A Dennis Adeniran hat-trick and Stephen Humphrys brace saw Fulham Under-18s defeat Tottenham Hotspur 5-3 at Motspur Park on Saturday. The two of them combined to give the Whites the lead with just three minutes on the clock when Humphrys nodded a free-kick back across the face of goal to Adeniran who was on hand to add the finishing touch. Spurs levelled soon after when Keanen Bennetts prodded in but two goals in six minutes from Adeniran put his side in control of the game – the hat-trick goal a long range screamer that went in via the crossbar. Humphrys got his first of the game just before half-time following good work from Josh Walker to give Steve Wigley’s boys a hefty advantage going into the break. Jacques Maghoma gave the visitors a glimmer of hope when he nodded in from close range on 65 minutes, but Humphrys’ second goal extinguished any chance of a comeback when he won possession and slotted beyond the goalkeeper. A deflected Marcus Edwards goal gave Spurs some consolation, but it was Fulham who took the three points and took their scoring tally to 11 goals in two games.” No team details were available.
".. and it could have been more but for a series of stops from goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman." say Spurs in this, much more complete report and gives a better feel for how good our lads were today - http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/u18-fulham-away-report-141115/?
The Spurs Head of Player Development said, “I thought Fulham were very good. Whenever you play against a Steve Wigley side you know they’re going to be incredibly competitive, forward-thinking and difficult to beat." So, here's a video of the goal fest - Which goal was your favourite?
Hear! Hear! And the man himself today, giving an insight into the our current Academy of players and their development -

Swansea 1 Fulham 2 (U18s) Great win for the youngsters to make it three on the trot. Highlighted by Matt O’Riley’s assist, eh what! The team was: Ashby-Hammond; Fossey, Jenz, Davies, Sessegnon; O'Reilly (Adebayo 80'), Dolan (Sessegnon 80'); De La Torre, Paton, Kwietniewski; Walker (Pearce 75') ” The Whites went ahead with quarter of an hour played when Marlon Fossey fed Luca de la Torre who found Mikolaj Kwietniewski, and the Polish midfielder finished low into the corner. The lead was doubled 10 minutes later when 15-year-old Matthew O’Riley countered and played in Ryan Sessegnon who fired beyond the Swans goalkeeper at his near post. It could have been game over before half-time, but Kwietniewski sent a free-kick over the bar, O’Riley saw a shot pushed behind, and Aron Davies blazed over from the resulting corner. After the restart both sides had chances to grab the game’s third goal as Josh Walker had a shot saved, before Taye Ashby-Hammond was called into action at the other end. Walker was then denied again, before Kwietniewski and Fossey both missed the target with their efforts. With five minutes to go Kwietniewski hit a strike wide and de la Torre saw a shot saved. Swansea did pull one back with a header at the far post from a corner in the 90th minute, but the Whites held on.”
Thanks ..its a long way away but worth it..Matt makes his debut on his 15th Birthday.. plays a blinder has one stopped on the line and an assist for Ryan and in the 8 which was very hard work .. cramped up a bit so came off at 80... good performance all round and probably should have won by more but nearly let them back in towards the end.. proud day Would be good if they could spell his name right though!! Team Sheet had him as Nathan O'Reilly and on the website he is Matthew O'Reilly!
Oh dear, I did as well Doriley - sorry. [duly edited the post] Sounds as though young Matt had an absolute stormer and the future must be looking very bright. Well done both.
Fulham 3 Southampton 2 (18s) Another good win, with Josh Walker continuing his scoring exploits and Matt O’Riley again playing his part. The team was: Ashby-Hammond; Fossey, Opoku, Davies, Martin (Jens 61'); de la Torre, Kait, O'Riley (Thomas 69'), Kwietniewski (Pearce 85'); Humphrys, Walker Unused sub: Soutar ” Fulham started strongly and went close through Walker, but fell behind in the 24th minute. A poor goal-kick from Taye Ashby-Hammond was knocked straight back into the danger zone and Jerome Opoku couldn’t get back in time as Joe Lea was left with an unopposed tap-in. The Whites, though, responded immediately and levelled when a free-kick was met by Josh Walker who headed home. Fulham went in front five minutes later. Marlon Fossey was chopped down in the box after a lovely free-flowing move and Stevie Humprhys slotted home the resulting spot-kick. Fossey was booked soon after for a foul as he stretched for a loose ball and the remainder of the half proved uneventful. Eight minutes after the break, Josh Walker got his second of the game and his eighth of the season at Under-18 level, firing home from close range after a free-kick had caused a scramble in the box. Southampton went close in the 65th minute and pulled one back 60 seconds later with a good finish from the edge of the area by Callum Slattery. Aron Davies then headed just wide at the other end from a corner and Fulham went close again with time running out as Luca de la Torre’s cross was met by Humprhys who saw his shot parried away. In the windy conditions, Southampton hurled a late free-kick into the mixer, but Fulham cleared the danger to secure the points.”
Highlights - from the Southampton camp, but superior quality and a bit more running time, with playbacks. Keep an eye out for our No. 8 (young Matt). Edit: Just realised, Vic Bettinelli was in charge of our lads - not Steve Wigley as I said in the 'PNE' thread.
Yup Vic took the game as Steve was at the Cottage..Southampton do a much more detailed report...v impressive. It was a scrappy game but 3 points!! Nice work by Matt and Mikky for the second goal!
