Out of the bottom 3, we win 2-0 + clean sheet, the mags get trounced and Watmore is sensational our best forward since super Kev. Only down point was Lens was bad. Things are looking up and let the next week drag.
Well said, I'm the happiest I've been for a while after that. It's amazing how much football can affect your mood.
I think the ‘Lens’ situation will become clearer in the coming weeks. I take Lens as more of a luxury player and with that I mean that when confidence starts to flow through the team he will become more of an asset…..AT LEAST I HOPE (FINGERS CROSSED).
when you said his situation would become clearer I thought you were gonna say he'll probably move on in January. He came to play for Dick and he doesn't start games under Sam.
Biggest Xmas present for me (apart from final score) was Seb Coates. What the hell happened? At the end of last season, he looked like a brick wall, and I thought he was a great £2m signing. This last couple of games, he's starting to look solid again. Where did you go in between, Seb? You were tripe. Glad to see you back again.
Its amazing what a change three at the back has made to the team, and the individuals in it. SC JoS YK and the wing-backs all look much better in this system, as do the front men, this system its not as negative as some make out, but it has made us, at last, look like a team that can survive in this league.
I think we all underestimate what a lack of confidence does to a team. You could pick a number of players, who saw a serious dip in their form: Van Aanholt, Larsson, Coates, Pantillimon, Cattermole(who I thought was particularly good yesterday) and even Defoe - the list is not exhaustive. However, yesterday, we looked like a team - the first time for an absolute age. And when we went 1-0 up you could see the players were bursting with confidence. They wanted to score more goals. I know Stoke were down to ten men but we've been there a few times, over the past few years, and still looked like we didn't believe we could win the game. Let's not get ahead of ourselves but yesterday look more promising than they have for about five years.
I think Lens showed he has the pace, he can beat a man and is a decent player. Sooner or later them shots will hit the target, the passes will get better as relationships grow on the pitch. Not knocking anybody for yesterday. The best I have seen us for a long time. They actually looked like a team and more importantly it looked like there was harmony amongst the players.
Lens has class, and could be a real asset, with the right attitude he will be fine, its in his own hands, but we have shown we can manage without him. The more options Big Sam has the better. Its the same with a few of the slackers at the club, the easy life is no longer an option.
