Looks like the Poool physios got Joke Penalty up and running again just in time to cover for Sturridge.
I'm sure the two Pauls, Daniel and Chris are sat around ready to write their follow up to: please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
I remember the debate not so long ago about accepting the Old Firm into the PL. If they tried that now, Celtic would be relegated by January.
The BBC report said Benteke "won" the penalty. I hate that expression. A penalty should be done to a player, that description implies that the person that gets fouled does something meritorious in order to be fouled.
"Mourinho unconvinced of spurs tiredness". Is he looking for an excuse BEFORE the game?.....or are we?
So Jose, what do you think about the claim that the long round trip journey and so many senior players playing 90 mins in the cold of Qarabag will make Spurs tired for the Sunday game ??
We must be upsetting the tabloid hacks: they're linking Kane, Dembele and Rose with moves to Chelsea. I'm trying to work out the most Levyesque package for this one. I'd say something like... * The cost of building our new stadium * Chelsea drop their bid to play at Wembley as Shamford Bridge is being renovated * Half of the money Roman made selling Sibneft to Gazprom - in other words, £4.35bn * All fans chanting about Aushwitz, the Nazis or gas chambers will be deployed to Syria * David Baddiel must admit both Rob Newman and Frank Skinner are funnier than he is * Jose Moronho will give all press conferences dressed as Coco the Clown * Diego Costa must play all games with a Hannibal Lecter mask on his face at all times * Advertising hoardings at Shamford Bridge must show all evidence from the phone hacking trial whenever a Chelsea game is on Sky Sports
If the old firm were in the premier league, they would have access to the income from being a premier league club. If any of you have little knowledge of the SPL tv deal, you may want to google that and find out how little income they receive, which is one reason they are bitter. Had many a debate with rangers/celtic fans over thsi! But both sets of fans would be happy to start from the lower leagues, which won't happen as no matter which league they started in, they are blocking the promotion of an english club. Celtic/Rangers are huge clubs, bigger fanbase then any of the London clubs, with premier league income they would as big as Utd, which again is why their fans are extremely bitter.
Celtic and Rangers have bigger fanbases than any of the London clubs? Really? Seems a little unlikely, to me. The reason that they've got such little income from TV deals is because they ****ed up their own league. They took all of the cash, stiffed everyone else and nobody gave a crap about 95% of the games up there after that. They made their own bed, so now they can lie in it. One of the reasons why people followed them was because they were constantly winning trophies. That simply wouldn't be the case in England. They might kick on and overcome it or they might do a Leeds. Given the way that they've both been run, I'm not sure which is more likely.
To be fair PNP, you're commenting on a subject you know a little about other then using google, but thats not said coming from someone that defends Celtic/Rangers, as I don't have any sympathy for either club as they are Scottish clubs and regardless of how they are managed (from the top), have no right to demand they move down south. Scottish football has suffered for many years, there are deeper issues then blaming rangers/celtic as they can't be responsible for improving the standard of the league and other Scottish teams, while the league has never been one of great attraction (overall) so the lack of money in their game reflects the overall standard of Scottish football. But yes they have a massive fanbase and throughout their history have won trophies so I wouldn't view their fans as mostly glory hunters, otherwise that means all big clubs which have regularly won trophies could be accused of mostly having glory hunting fans.
Rangers 4 Alloa 0 Attendance 43,242 Watching a group of players that would be lucky to play in league 2 sides, glory hunters would be sat at home watching their English lteam with home comforts! So while Rangers & Celtic have fans which support two Scottish teams (i.e one of the old firm), you can't dispute they have a massive loyal fanbase.
I doesn't. Dropping down into obscurity and not winning anything for years would be an interesting challenge for them, too.
Liverpool have done it a few times in the last ten years - yet they still get plenty of televised games to keep their coffers full.
