Good morning folks, Mr Channon has a runner in the first at Newbury, at 33/1 Fitzwilliam has to be worth a soft couple of quid, bit of money down for Night in Milan, Doncaster 12:15 and for a quick-fire first race treble Bracing to pop in at Musselburgh. Then it's off down to the travel agents for a black Friday deal for a week in Barbados. Alternatively could be a pint of bitter and a cheese and onion cob to drown my sorrows.
I see the old Next Sensation, try and reduce his handicap mark for another tilt at the Grand Annual is rolling again. Today its 2m3f again, and no doubt he will be in the vanguard from the off... I wonder if we will read the old "weakened from 2 out" again today. I say, its not the easiest way of reducing his mark though, last two runs he has been reduced a 1lb in each, despite being beaten nearly 30 lengths in each race!! The handicapper is trying to make sure he is beaten at the festival!
Just a note PP are enhancing Saphir de Rheu at 11am and Wicklow Brave at 2pm by 60% apparently. Just thought i'd mention it.
Just been confirmed by Harry Fry that Rock on Ruby has been forced to retire after receiving a tendon injury after last week's victory at Ascot.'If he was a younger horse we might have considered treating the injury and bringing him back a year or more later. There were quite a few tears shed by our staff,no wonder because he is a much moved character and a bit of an institution here at Sesborough'
What a hero Rock On Ruby has been. Sensible decision by connections, he doesn't owe them anything. Wish him a long and happy retirement.
Rock on Ruby - what a star! he almost seemed to get better as he got older. pleased that he is able to go out on a high with a win
Skelton has a good one in the juvenile ranks then. I was taken by that given the way the ground looks shocking. Have they had loads of rain since yesterday?
Dundalk 6.05-Danz Gift win 2/1.Short enough price but this lad has been in great form of late with two C&D wins on the bounce.Gave his nearest rival a good beating a couple of weeks back and is up 15lbs but I think there could be more left in the tank and can land the hatrick.
Ringside Humour 5/1 Dundalk 6.35 - is getting a nice swing in the weights here for a 2.75 length beating by Stronger Than Me last time out, she was well beaten in listed company prior to that run but has been ultra consistent of late. The fave is thriving currently but I'm optimistic she can turn the tables with that one and hopefully score for Bolger/Manning.
Rock on ruby , what a star.. Remember tipping him for the champion hurdle on here. At least he'll get to enjoy his retirement. A couple for me kings lad 2.40 new and wait for me. I was at ascot that day and was impressed with west approach, in fact I backed them
How good or otherwise was Three Musketeers win? I couldn't watch it but I assume it was good from the race comments .... He was dropped OUT of my ten to follow when I realised I'd picked 12
