Some more; 21 Jul 2011 11:24:55 OFFICIAL RUMOUR: Watford are set to sign Paul Dixon For a undisclosed fee. fee set to be around 250k. Also Aston Villa are considering loaning Andreas Weimann back to the Hornets. Gavin Mahon is training with the Hornets and may be given a short term contract. Marvin Sordell will not be leaving Watford for Ipswich. he is happy with his and the clubs football there. he said the only way im leaving is if a premier league club offers me 21 Jul 2011 12:00:09 Sam Vokes and Paul Dixon will both complete moves to Watford by the end of next week. 21 Jul 2011 13:26:05 Paul Dixon of Dundee Utd is currently having a medical at Watford's London Colney training ground. Fee of £300,000 has been agreed between the two clubs yesterday (Wednesday). 21 Jul 2011 13:43:39 Watford are looking to resign star trio - John-Joe O'Toole, Douglas Rinaldi & Johan Cavalli.. Watch this Space The last one obviously someone is having a laugh.... but the Dixon one seems highly plausible and is sounding more and more likely!! That would be the 7 signings they said, plus one loanee so far!!
yes! i think the Dixon one sounds like it's going to happen..and fingers are crossed re Weimann...the last one is very funny!
http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/9153377.Clubs_vote_to_reduce_number_of_subs/ Clubs have voted for 5 subs, not 7...
Paul Dixon would be a good signing for us and £250k is probably realistic enough. Not so keen on loan signings as I think they prevent us from bringing on our own talent. Malky had to give various loanees first team places last season when clearly there performances did not merit it. The club won't go anywhere relying on loan signings.
Hopefully we can keep loans to a minimum, and as Kev says, take Weimann on loan with a view to purchase in January
I think this is ridiculous to be honest, if a club cant name 7 subs then thats down to them, but for a club like us (and many others) its going to be detrimental. Academy players and young pros will no longer get that vital experience of sitting on the bench for the odd game, and the more senior players on the fringes of the squad will become frustrated at not being amongst the substitutes - the effects will only be negative. At least we've got one more season with 7...
I think this has been brought it for lower league league clubs! , Some clubs have trouble filling the 7 slots ! I actually think its a good idea , a few years back there were not reams of subs available to managers! My only concern is as mentioned previously is the game time or experience for the young ones ,especially as we have pulled out of the reserve league!
I find the Vokes rumour surprising, a mate of mine who is a Wolves fan still rates him and says he has just been unlucky with injuries and has not been able to get a run in the team. The Dixon one has been ongoing now, def worth a shout though, highly thought of north of the border!
i agree, i think 5 subs is going to be bad for clubs with a good youth system...i wonder what we voted...
someone has been clever and paid them a hell of a lot of money for the domain name- it must have been getting popular.
Saturday's game is going to be on the Hornet Player jonmwfc Jon Marks Am pleased to confirm that there will be full commentary on AFC Wimbledon v #watfordfc on Hornets Player tomorrow. Goal news on BBC London.
Latest: 21 Jul 2011 18:23:32 Very very reliable source from Watford. LB situation is proving difficult. Club want to get the signing right, after all the trouble Wfc have had in that position. Andrew Taylor was close to resigning, but MM improved the contract at Cardiff and he was off. MM failed in a bid for John Eustace and failed in an attempt to entice Alec Chamberlain to Cardiff. Paul Dixon AND Carl Dickinson are also on a shortlist, but are not the main target. The LB wfc are after is from the lower leagues, but terms are far from agreed. John Eustace wants to stay at Watford, BUT, if Derby come in with a serious offer, he will consider it. Martin Taylor WILL be staying with wfc and there should be no more departures unless ridiculous money is offered. There have been enquires for Marvin Sordell from 2 prem clubs. Youngster Sean Murray is to go out on loan when the loan window opens. Also, some who had doubts within the club about Bassini have cooled their doubts. They are still wary, but the last few weeks there has certainly been an increase in confidence around the club. Players happy and raring to go. Expect 2 permanent signings and 2 loan signings
Maybe this is the left back they mean; 21 Jul 2011 19:43:27 Watford will sign former Ipswich player Pim Balkestein from Brentford by next Wednesday. The versatile Dutch defender is looking to make the step back up to the Championship having been there with Ipswich for two years. He can play left back and centre back - although personally would prefer a specialised left back....
