We can't afford the £3.5+m.to sack GM.

    So the word about is.

Yes I agree these rumours will always do the rounds.

    But........

Huw is going to risk 100 million next season trying to save 3. 5 million by keeping Monk on .....quite a gamble , if you know what I mean.

I know what you mean roof.

What was said to me was that the club do not have the 3.5 payoff for him.The club did not account for it.

Maybe the current board feel they've taken the Club as far as they can , looking for "investors" last season with a view of some prominent shareholders looking to sell up. If we go down then the parachute payments account still account as an income and perhaps the penny pinching has already started 3-4 million to buy out Monks' contract .I don't really don't know and please feel free to shoot me down

It bothers me that we don't have money .
If we never had the 40 million we made off of the sale of Bony , Rodgers , Allen and Sinclair....,and if we had to pay for Siggy instead of a swap for Davis , we would be 50 Million in the red .
Also , if we never payed 8.5 Million for Eder and Tabanou ( Basically unused ) , we could have send Monk on his way with a bonus and had lots to party with.
I'm afraid Monk hasn't cornered the market on a bit of mismanagement , Huw got him by a couple of lengths coming around the clubhouse turn ....we'll have to wait to see how the finish goes
Maybe the board should consider their own future while there considering Monk's

We do not have to sack Monk, so the 3.5 Million isn't an issue, just give him a side ways move, assistant manager should do, unless of course he doesn't like it and steps down on his own initiative......................<ok>

If push comes to shove Phil , Huw can PROBABLY use the old " Breach of Contract " card that he tried to pull on Laudrup and negotiate a lesser settlement when Laudrup wouldn't except new staff.

Roofer whatever happens it will not be a re-run of the Laudrop situation, I do think that if Monk fails to get us out of this in the next 2 or 3 games he will be forced to step down, it will be kind of amicable one way or the other, unless of course Monk kicks off, then you could well be right............<laugh>

    And honour his managerial contract?
Thus paying in effect his wages plus the new managers wage.

He signed a 3 year contract and along with that comes his terms and conditions , which I doubt would include the ease to move him side ways .He'll have got the best deal possible for himself as would anyone so this imo will end up as he turns this around and stays, resigns and walks with a nice payoff or he's pushed out and gets a bigger payoff .

I may be doing her a disservice but from what I've read about her I get the feeling that Mrs Monk will make sure hubby stiffs us to the max.

If thats the case then I can partly understand, as when AVB was here, he was doing a similar job to what Pochettino is doing now, 12 games unbeaten, strong in defence, performing in an organised manner, we nearly finished 4th, but me (and others) were bored ****less with the football.

What I don't understand is your fans seemed happy with Monk, played for the club, nice guy and all the talk this season was Monk being on a mission to finish 6th. Now everyone has turned against him (and gomis) while players like Siggy seem to be immune from any criticism?

I hope Monk turns it around, as I like his style as a manager.

When I state, I think Monk has a couple of games to turn things around, I'm simply stating the reality of the situation, I would love Monk to succeed and turn this bad patch arround and kick on, we need a manager for the long term stability of the club, and Monk fitted that nicely, but he has to get seriously savvy now as time is no longer on his side, and the manner of the deteriotion to our passing game surely must be of concern to Huw Jenkins and the rest of our board, it's not so much losing as the manner of our defeats and performance. Do I think it can be turned around? Yes certainly it can, but it would need some imagination from Monk, but I have seen nothing of that from Monk these last 6 weeks....................<ok>

It feels to me like we're at a turning point. The "fairytale story" of our rise is over. We've finished 8th and thought we were an established Prem club but as we've seen this season it's getting very competitive around mid table and surviving relegation is being fought tooth and nail by many "established" clubs. It appears our "passing side" identity which has been our hallmark for so long has gone and we're just another side in the mix to stay up at the moment. Maybe it isn't just the manager who's out of ideas.

It almost feels to me that we've now turned past the turning point. The was a ground-swell of opinion feeling that he (Monk) should have gone during the international break or after the Bournemouth game and he's survived both, so maybe he will be here for the long-haul after all, especially with the rumours of the cost of sacking him if that's what the board wanted to do (which is heresay anyway).
