great song I saw REM play it at the Macalpine stadium in Hudds and Michael Stipe wore a Huddersfield Town shirt...Nice touch I thought, although he couldn't remember the words so had them on a stand I realise this post may be missing the international significance of the general thread!
I think you're alright, it's not going to be world war 3. If it is, I'm defecting to the Soviet Union.
It sounds like the other one would have been OK as well... if they hadn't shot him while he was coming down on his parachute...and then shot the Russian marine that tried to save him as well!
No evidence for that. Could've been Russia, could've been pro-Russian rebels in Eastern Ukraine, could've been one of the many fascist battalions in the Ukrainian army.
Or, presumably based on the fact Turkey would rather bomb Kurdish fighters than ISIS. The supposed 'moderate' rebels that Turkey, the US, the UK and the Gulf States support are anything but moderate. A media outlet that published evidence showing large amounts of weapons moving from Turkey to ISIS through the Turkish-Syrian border was raided and shut down by the government. Turkey has something to hide.
Never heard of the Azov Battalion then? And I don't have any particular love for Putin or his government. If you had an argument of any substance you would have made it by now instead of throwing around piss-poor insults.
The Turks and the Syrian's have long had very poor relations and have been constantly antagonistic towards each other. Things got slightly better in the early part of this century when Damascus finally expelled the PKK leadership after years of support butt they've nose dived since the civil war kicked off. The Turks and the Russians, and especially the Soviets, have had extremely poor relations over the years and constantly bate each other around the black sea. They'd got better but the strong support of Assad has undone much of that. Putin isn't mental unfortunately but he is dangerous. I doubt many people would tolerate Russian jets repeatedly "nipping" over Cornwall repeatedly. The Swedes certainly didn't appreciate them flying over Sweden recently.
Well, at least you managed to contain the imminent threat of that dangerous Russian submarine. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-33684715
