It worked so well on Saturday because their 2 CB's weren't capable of passing their way out when put under pressure. So they made mistake after mistake.

You can't highpress the CB's when sitting deep btw. However I take your point, albeit that for me is just a natural breather and as for the technique of the press that's simply how it works, someone has to lead it and the others react.

BTW that was the biggest defeat Man City have ever suffered at the Etihad. Ever.

Their biggest defeat there came at the hands of Lovren and Lala with no opposition striker on the field. Nice.

Actually, I think Lucas's running stats are in the top 3 in the side...it's a huge myth that he can't run and has no legs.
Think it was put up by Skysports before one of our last few games.

I think Can would be the one to swap out if Henderson is to come in to the midfield duo. Can's playing well and learning, but still young. He'd actually do well to have the odd break. I'd obviously swap out Milner for Hendo personally, but it's a good problem to have. They're all deserving of starting on their day.

Can is younger and a better athlete than Lucas (though not by as big a margin as some seem to think), and he's better going forward. However, Lucas is way ahead of him in maturity and discipline. I think it would be a big mistake to drop Lucas and expect Can to play his role. Can has the glint of glory in his eye, Lucas is prepared to do the dirty work despite not always getting the recognition that that deserves.
In short, Can is a more gifted individual, Lucas a better team player.
    Imo, of course.

Anyway, isn't Lucas banned for the next game? We'll have to see what Klopp comes up with to compensate.

Lucas only lacks pace for his role. He will be keeping his position, however we do need back up, if not a top talents for that DM position, so he is replaceable.
Henderson coming back is a great problem for us to have.

Can goes for glory - but that's because his role is to go box to box. Lucas is to stay deeper. Can has far more work to do.

Nope - not sure how you read that? I said Markovic can play the same role as Reus did at Dortmund.

I think it's synonymous with that fact that he has less ground to cover now, which is good because it means we get more out of him.

He is in the top 3 runners in the side because he has less ground to cover due to his partner marauding up field and leaving him alone. Sounds ok to me :emoticon-0100-smile

When you have less ground to cover, it means you can cover it more effectively and quickly.

And would you like to know else has covered more ground? Milner and Can.

    Simple concept to follow?

Milner will always cover more ground than most, he is a Duracell bunny. Am surprised Can was the other one though, maybe Klopp has had some affect on his stamina already (which I mean as a good thing).

Klopps had a big impact - by playing Can in midfield. All it needed really.

And Can is playing box to box - will naturally cover a lot of ground. But he certainly does tire towards the end of the match. Klopp even told him not to make any forward runs that late because he is unable to get back into position.

After reading some earlier posts about Henderson coming back in I was thinking (style/type wise) he is much closer to Can than Milner or Lucas. If he replaces Milner will he be asked to play on the right and if he replaces Lucas who will be asked to sit back, Henderson or Can?

Henderson is box to box like Can - but Can is a better footballer and better defensively.

Unless he wants to develop Can into a DM role (which he certainly can play), then I can see Lucas remaining. Which would leave Milner - who has been our worst player this season IMO.

Klopp will eventually shift to a 2 man midfield - until then, I think it will be a 3 man midfield with Can - Lucas - Henderson.

    That could work very well.
I rate Henderson highly, he seemed to blossom in the second half of last season with his passing (full range) and his decision making. I think he is now fast becoming the player everyone expected.

Still yet to be convinced - he is capable of doing some great things but he lacks consistency. Still feel he is a strong squad player for a top 4 team ala Milner for City.

Hard to judge the consistency of any player in a team that was messed about so much for the last 12 months.
With a set style of play and structured responsibility you may find he improves much faster and further.
