WOW. Leicester are really doing great things and Arsenal are crashing.

I don't see him wanting to leave at all. He's clearly getting what United are. Clearly.

He's not daft, Carrick is probably in his final full time year and Schweinstiger has a couple more seasons in him. He's the future of our midfield.

Good result today, important to find that winner after Watford had equalised. A good sign.

Definitely. The unwillingness to give up and our ability to hit right back bodes well for the future, particularly with Arsenal showing they are still utterly unable to do the same <ok>

What was wrong with 'going on the belief'?

"going on" requires a tangible object and action around that object (e.g. going on a holiday, going on strike, going on a shopping trip)

A belief is not tangible so it cannot be gone on, only acted on (acting on instinct, acting on feedback, acting on impulse)

Note that 'going' is synonymous with 'operating', which is applicable in the context that it was used. 'Going' does not only mean having movement/ action upon a specified object, but simply 'something done' (again referred to on the same link).

Also, care to educate me on how a strike is tangible?

A thesaurus does not give grammar advice. Going is synonymous with operating for a tangible noun, but not for a concept. Else you could use the same link to claim that "pushing on the belief" is accurate.

    http://www.summit-esl.com/clubenglish/2012/12/27/grammar-basics-unit-56-go-to-go-on-go-for-go-ing/

"Certain phrases use “go on N” (where the noun is a trip or something similar):"

    http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/go-on

    "go on (OPERATE)
› to start operating:The spotlights go on automatically when an intruder is detected in the garden. When does the heating go on?"

    Also:

    http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/act?q=acting on#act__8

"(act on) Take action according to or in the light of:I shall certainly act on his suggestion"

You took action according to your belief. Therefore you acted on your belief.

    QED <ok>

P.S. How long before sweats or Ruff complains about our boring argument? ;)

It is actual and has real substance. A strike can be observed and has a specific observable pattern. It is as tangible as a football match, concert or any similar item.

<laugh> I was actually going to congratulate him on his correct and justified opening post but it's since evolved beyond the point of being arsed.

I do agree that acting on is the correct term, not going on.

Anyway, I wonder how those two fancy dan Brazilians of Liverpool's will perform when they end up in a cold windy night in the north west, eh? Eh?

    Oh, wait a minute................

They've both been playing in Europe long enough. I don't think the cold would affect them more than everyone else.

Aye, his opening post was correct and justified, but had to be a bit anal and point out the inappropriate use of "going on". I have to admit I was largely being anal for the sake of it, although I was acting on the belief people should appreciate receiving corrections so that they can do things better in future ;)

And I'm less concerned with how dem Brazilians will cope, and more with how dat Argentinian defender of City will conspire to be blown away by the cold windy night of the north west.

So, how long do we reckon until Liverpool concede again?
