While it could be correct, I wouldn't believe everything I'd read in the Mirror. Actually I don't buy the rag anyway. In fairness though, if he is being offered 25k a week, not many players would turn that down to stay at a club on probably a third of that. Our wage structure, while necessary, will lead to our top players leaving every year when they get close to the end of their contracts

You just have to read the previous story about him wanting a move to France, to see what a load of crap the Mail is talking.

 

I don't buy into to be fair, though the wage demand of 25k is true and the fact our policy is not to offer extreme demands to players, then its pretty easy journalism for anybody to see.

Wouldn't panic at all, though i will say, we would be stupid to sell to another championship side!

 

Indeed that would be a ****ing dumb ass move..cant really begrudge a move to a premiership team or another country as players wanna play at the highest level..but selling to a team in the championship is ridiculous

 

I actually think that this is probably right about him asking to leave.

I'd sell to fulham with stocky coming our way in return for the season. Or sunderland with a 3 mill straight cash. Better still sell to lyon or psg. Then we don't have to build up this anger for the next time we play against him.

Like any player, if he doesn't want to play for us, flog him to the highest bidder, especially if we're going to lose him for nothing in 12 months anyway. Few things worse than an unsettled player disrupting the changing room. I rate the guy, but if he doesn't want to wear the shirt we're better off shot of him.

 

i would've got rid of him anyway as soon as he asked to be the highest paid player at the club regardless of how much that is. I think sell him to lille if possible, that would be the choice for leeds but i doubt gradel, hope he goes to newcastle with a deal for smith or fulham with a deal for stockdale

But if it's true, Gradel is just another mercenary whose head has been turned and has probably been tapped up.
While I understand that most players wouldn't turn down the opportunity to play in the Prem and also a big wage increase, it still will leave a bitter taste in my mouth.
But Bates will probably bank the money and go for a 35 yr old replacement on loan.

I was reading an article about Bates saying we were going to sign 4 players and not be a feeding club. He also said our target this season was to get back into the premier league.

Well you could have fooled me! You don't sell your best players. You offer them the going rate and try and build some stability within the club. It's not like we are some small fry club and all this nonsense about not wanting to go back to the Ridsdale days is bollox. Either we are going forward or not and in my opinion we are going backwards compared to other clubs in this division.
