This is fantastic. I hve just bought tickets to West Brom v Arsenal and will be learning the song over the next two evenings.

I think everyone will want to take part to show solidarity.

Along with this wonderful gesture by the Premier League, I think Championship clubs should play the Lebanese National Anthem. League One should cover Israel's, League 2 would be best placed to blast out Nigeria's with the National League picking up Bosnia & Herzegovina's. National Leagues North & South, together, can do Iraq's, The Northern Premier is Chad's & the Southern Premier Cameroon.

After the Premier League & France (EU & mainly white Nationals) I'm struggling to rank the countries who've suffered terrorist attacks since the last round of PL & Championship games (I know the LLS clubs played last week) in order of tragedy importance going down the Leagues. Maybe Iraq should go last or have I got it right with Cameroon? Do you rank religion above race & colour & does a country's resources come into play? It's difficult.

It's a good job I trust the sincere & non-publicity seeking leaders of the Premier & Football Leagues to make the right choices & tragedy rank the Anthems of each country in order of importance, accordingly down the Leagues. I'm sure a few bob placed in the right envelope & left in the right pigeon hole could see a country's tragedy importance escalate a division or two.

    Incroyable, n' est-ce pas?

I like that Frenchie revolutionary ditty groove.

An anthem to liberté, égalité, fraternité an' all.

    Passionate.
    Patriotic.
    Stirring.
    Eminently sing-a-longable.

Much better than our dirgy, sycophantic, Royalist bollocks of a National Anthem.

Of course it should be sung before this weekend's games.

And on The Last Night of the Proms.

And the state opening of Parliament.

And when the telly finishes at night.

    We should just nick it.

It's much better than the one we've currently got.

    Vive la Angleterre!

It never happened there when we had 7/7!!!! A minutes silence maybe but no way did they sing God save the queen. We all feel for them but this is way over the top! What happens when this happens again in another country? Because it will.

If it's here, just imagine the passion when the other nation sings "God Help Us"...

Does seem a bit unnecessary this after the England match, maybe tricolour armbands would have been a better gesture

Just contrasting your attitudes to these things. Maybe you shouldn't have come out with such a stupid remark if you don't want reminding of it.

I'm fine with you bringing it up, just wondering what it has to do with the thread or my post on here.

But hey, not like you to try to criticise me at every turn... oh wait.

    Ignored.

As I said before, it's a football game not anything else. I know it's a crowd gathering but they are there for football. Having a crowd in itself isn't necessarily a reason to get everybody to act together in something, unless they are there for that particular purpose. Most people aren't a mindless mass and can pay respect in their own way. There's always the likelihood of some getting restless or misinterpreting something during something they didn't turn up for and expect. In the end it doesn't necessarily need a ceremony to remind people that killing/war is bad. It's not going to stop it in the world either unfortunately because that would take much more thought and understanding than rituals that many (why pretend otherwise) just pay lip service to.

It will only serve to diminish what was done at Wembley, it's a poor decision.
