Seems he has decided to call it a day. May have been a bit slow by the time he arrived at Rangers, but he worked hard, and hope he enjoys retirement. https://www.dreamteamfc.com/c/this-...311be4b0c504920c7bcc-_-Image and link-_-Boost
Massive shame, reckon we could have got another 20-25 games out of him. We have looked vulnerable at CB this season and had to turn to the veterans to get some order back in. Thanks for the memories Dunne, you can retire as one of the few who gave a damn about the hoops.
I spoke to him before our final game of last season and he told me that he hoped that the club would give him another year's contract. It's a bloody shame they never. He was the right sort. I'll never forget his performance in the Play-Off final. He was our rock in that game and was by far the best player on the pitch. It's a shame that our more talented players didn't show his desire and commitment last season. Enjoy your retirement Mr Dunne.
Agree with you, Solid and dependable combined with the finesse of a hammer. 5 a-side is probably a mistake, he should try fishing. He'd just have to stand in the river and fish would give up quietly. Good Luck Dunno.
I wish him all the very best of luck in retirement from playing and his future endeavours, hopefully in a coaching role to inspire young players on how to defend properly. Despite his age, slowness etc. in many matches (especially the Wembley playoff final), combined with Clint Hill, he was a man mountain for us in central defence - like Clint, we should have offered him a one year contract on a sensible salary, as I'm sure he could have still performed ably for us this season in the Championship, compared to say loanee Angella, who has absolutely no commitment to our club. Regarding those infamous own goal stats, perhaps that is just par for the course when someone is totally committed and always in the thick of things, as opposed to those that shy away from such responsibilities.
Met his Father and uncles on a flight heading over and in the club shop at LR as well as at Shamrock Rovers on the pre-season tour of Ireland. He and his family are definitely the right sort. I honestly don't think a last pay day was his motivation at all unlike some of our other signings. We miss him and Barton from the spine of our team. Some may not like me mentioning that but it is a fact. Badly missed Dunner and Joey.
Dunne had a great knock, maybe he could have done another season with us but not sure his legs would have held up. We have missed Joey's drive all over the park.
All the best in retirement Richard, he was a solid signing for us. Agree with you regarding Barton, he's started Burnley's last 7 games and they've lost none of them. Funny that.
One of the good guys. You knew what you got when Dunne was in the starting eleven, I always felt at ease with him at the back. A rock, one of the best, maybe the best signing made under the Fernandes era.
I'd vote for Ryan Nelsen, with Dunne a close second. Nelsen was a truly accomplished defender and a real leader. I know some dislike him for jumping ship to go into management, but I don't blame him at all for that - he was physically knackered and caught up in Redknapp's **** storm and an opportunity he couldn't refuse came along. Wise move. A couple of games he was virtually playing on his own, must have been exhausting.
Barton wont change....if your getting the best out of Joey on the pitch its because of Dyche. How many tweets have you heard from Joey lately?...step out of line with a proper manager and he will be out the door a la Ferguson.. No discipline at Rangers for a long time hence a lot of problems.
What he lacked in speed he more than made up for in speed of thought and positional sense, sorely missed this season. Hope he looks to go into management, I wouldn't imagine too many liberties being taken with him around...
Took a 1yr contract and left early ffs, not the right sort but played the game right when he was there. Still chucked the towel in though.
how many signed 3 year deals and then just sat back and counted the money he did more for QPR in 6 months than the likes of swp etc did in how many years
