i love the Beeb, great Documentaries on BBC4 and BBC 2, which no commercial organisation would tackle, or if they did the commercial requirements would mean a shift from truth and investigation to sensationalism and rumour....
The sports coverage is also second to none due to no commercial breaks...my solution ???
    1. Bin all the low grade "reality" progs..make over bollox, Police docs etc.
    2. No more Celebrity anything
    3. Talent shows can do one too.
    4. in fact anything that ITV or Ch5 does, avoid...leave that lowest common denominator TV to commercial channels.

The Beeb needs to address minority issues, fringe programming as well as developing top rating TV like Bake Off...because we do pay for it and deserve representation, sometimes despite ourselves.......

And one final thing, this Government has an agenda to control all we think, we cannot let them interfere with the neutrality of the Beeb.......

And they were willing to get rid of 6 Music despite it being one of the fasting growing stations and easily the BBC's best quality one.

The listener numbers for the different stations are quite interesting (for the month of September), 29% of the UK population listened to Radio 2, 21% listened to Radio 4, 20% listened to Radio 1, 11% listened to 5 Live and 4% listened to Radio 3 and 6 Music.

Obviously 6 Music and 5 Live are likely to increase as more people switch to digital.

The trouble with your suggestions is it'd require the BBC to give up a lot of ratings winners. When the BBC's overall ratings go down as a result then the government would have a further excuse to cut the corporation still further. Why should the BBC continue to get so much money from the public when not many are watching, they'd say.

They'd save more money if the TV Licencing (not a real) Authority didn't insist on sending people like me a letter every few weeks threatening me with visits and court action which I can avoid simply by taking time out of my life to contact them on a regular basis and tell them I don't need a licence. They get ignored on the basis that it's not my responsibility to prove I'm innocent when a glorified salesman demands it of me.

I actually wish they'd carry out their threats against me though, it'd be ****ing hilarious trying to see them prove beyond reasonable doubt that I was breaking the law when their only reason to be suspicious is that I don't have a licence and I ignore their letters, especially as the Licencing Authority doesn't actually have any authority over anything. It'd be like Mazda taking you to court accusing you of driving without insurance because you wouldn't confirm to them that you didn't have a new car.

Do you watch any BBC programming or use a television in any way shape or form?

Whilst thinking the BBC do,some good programmes whichnrepresent good value for less than halfbthe price of a daily paper, when did they start showing this commitment to truth and investigation? Their agenda on somethings can be gauged from what theybdon't report on or omit. Maybe ifvthey had followed up on some of thebgoings on by BBC personalities it would have been a start.

This is how this country is though isn't it? Empty threats full of lies with the expectation that that would intimidate people to do their will. One rule for those in 'authority' and one rule for the rest. Lying is allowed for the first, while the second group would get prosecuted for it.

Yes, and yes, but not in any way which legally requires a TV Licence.

How serious do you think the punishment would be from the police if I sent them a letter back saying that I don't have a licence because I don't have the time to watch TV, not after taking great care to dispose of the bodies of my victims anyway?
