It's not exactly PC these days! Can you imagine the complaints with some of them! I watched repeats of the original when I was a kid & watched In Sickness & In Health & recall it got stopped because of PC back then, just checked & '92 was the last. Benny Hill got it as well around the same time if memory serves!
Well yeah. That's exactly why they won't be repeated. Despite the fact it was actually showing the views of people like Alf Garnett as being ignorant.
That was the joke. I saw Mitchell interviewed once & he said people would come up to him & tell him how they were just like Alf & he had to explain to the thick ****ers that the joke was Alf because of the views he expressed. Today's equivalent would be the ****s who post **** from Britain First & then claim not to be right wing racists. They could show a couple of episodes today & the brew rooms on Monday would still have people discussing that Alf has it bang on. Ignorance, as you say. The fact Mitchell made the character so believable is proof of his ability as an actor. On a side note, he was helped along the way by the wonderful Dandy Nichols.
that's what's sad of todays soceity, my favourite film is blazing. Saddles you cant get any more racist, than that, but it was fun, and I'm certainly no racist.

One for the geeks amongst us: Gene Amdahl, 92. Designer of the IBM 360. One of the milestones that revolutionised the computer industry and ushered in the digital era.
RIP Jonah Lomu, All Blacks rugby legend, aged 40 Lomu battled kidney disorders since the end of 1995 when he was diagnosed with nephritic syndrome. He had a kidney transplant in 2004. Lomu had health setbacks since then and had been receiving dialysis treatments during his recent visit to Britain where he was involved in heavy promotional work during the Rugby World Cup.
RIP Jonah Lomu. At the top of his game he was awesome on the rugby field. Utterly awesome. Unstoppable.
RIP Jonah Lomu. Remember how you destroyed the England defence and bulldozed Mike Catt into the ground, oh scored an amazing 4 tries against us. Reading the tweets from your fellow professionals sounds like you were amazing person and the perfect gent. My thoughts are with your wife and 2 young sons.
Can't believe Jonah Lomu has died. I don't mind watching a spot of Rugby Union and when he burst onto the scene it was epic a 20 stone tank that could run 100 metres in around 10 seconds. Awesome. Rest in Peace Jonah.
