That is your opinion and from what you have said I would judge your opinion as worthless.

In reality, most won't attempt to sing along, many can't manage our national anthem, never mind the French one.

It really doesn't matter, it will be respected, some will sing along, some won't, it'll be moving either way.

Was there some part of 'no bickering on this thread' that people didn't understand? :emoticon-0112-wonde

I am actually. I was offered a ticket by a mate last night who couldn't attend, and am going down on the train in about an hour.

And I will be remaining silent, even if all around me sing.

Not that should matter, my opinion is worthless. Surprised you're still replying to me.

Anyways, enough of this, I'm going to continue with the actual subject of the thread.

People getting on their high ground again over a tragedy! Let the French sing & we applaud? I'm actually looking forward to watching it along with a lot of neutrals around the work I can imagine.

I think the French know their own national anthem. Wembley are going to display the lyrics to the French national anthem on the screen. I would think they are doing that for people who want to sing along.
Tonight we will know how well it went. Some people even wanted the match not to be played. I know the match in Belgium is not being played but that is on the advice of the government because they think a terrorist is on the run.

Let the French and English do what they think is appropriate?

Why do you want to sing their national anthem Peter?

I managed to avoid the metaphor joke but you are right, you can never have too many metaphor jokes.

To show we care. Sometimes England fans boo the opposition's national anthem, sometimes they stand silent. This is a time to sing it and show we care. I can't sing any songs well but that doesn't stop me singing at football. If I say something in French and I get a response in French I am usually all adrift but I can usually say something in French and tonight nobody will be saying anything back in French.

What if the English sang the translated version?

A Frenchman went to the lavat'ry,
For to have a mighty ****,
He took his coat and trousers off,
So that he could revel in it.
But when he reached for the paper,
He found that someone had been there before,
    "Ou est le papier?"
    Ou est le papier?
    Monsieur, monsieur, J'at fait manure.
    Ou est le papier?

We should boo it. That would send a message to those manic Arabs.

Defiance, they won't change us. Old rivals will remain old rivals.

They will love watching a load of bleary eyed folks turning on themselves to sign the French anthem. They will ****ing love it.
