<peacedove> I can hear the England manager complaining about club managers not
cooperating with him about their players. Tell me why they should cooperate when their
players are likely to come back injured?<doh>

Non-competitive friendlies [?] - select a squad who aren't first team regulars then no team is left without injured players who are crucial to their campaign ... but it defeats the object of having the friendly in the first place, which is to get practice in for the competitive games.

Thing about this weekend is that teams like England who have qualified for tournaments might as well play a non-competitive match as others are still playing qualifying games, so Leagues like the Prem would have to stop to allow these competitive games to be played.

But on the injury front, yes its a massive problem but isn't confined to friendlies. If there is even a question over a players fitness I think the club should have the final say, after all they are paying the wages of the player unless the international teams are willing to pay the wages over the course of the injury.

I don't have as big a problem with international games. Qualifiers or competative.

What bothers me is the constant interruption of the regular season.

Give international teams the summer and January. Stop having breaks every month or so and ruining the continuity of the season.

Logistically better for international squads and club sides.

Be interesting to see how he felt about this when he was club manager. Do hope he isn't being a bit hypocritical Lil as he should understand how clubs feel about this esp when they are responsible for the multi million pound contracts players are on nowadays. Makes no dif to him or the fa if they get injured does it!!!!

Been busy most of the day- just a quick look in before bed.
I hate pointless internationals-which is more or less all internationals as far as I'm concerned.

Anyway, I'm off now- me wick's starting to shrivel up.

  14. Just scrap the bloody friendlies. Cut the qualifying groups down right down so only the top team qualifies too; more groups and less team in each means #lessgames

Agree with that, they could do the same with the Champions League too, 2 teams to the group and call it a knock out competition <ok>
