I like and largely agree with the thrust of your quote,Madness. I remain unconvinced by Rigg. However if his role is just " do what the experts tell you" then OK. I'm a former Director of HR in a 3000 head organisation and listening to him I'm very doubtful about his personal Recruitment/Selection/Development/Organisational structural comprehension. But, he may well "just be following orders"
Take on what Rigg said about making sure we get the right person and 'hopefully before the MK Dons game but if not personnel in place etc. etc ..' One rather galling thing though is that Tim Ream, LVC and Moussa are the only first team players away on International duty during this 2 week break. What a grand time it would be for the new man to be out on the training field, getting his message over and the defence organised.
They must have had him lined up beforehand. I would love it for us to go to a European coach, like Southampton did with Pocchitino. None of the favourites do it for me. Who's available on the continent?
Oscar Garcia. Did all right with Brighton and Watford. And of course has Barcelona experience! Biggest concern I suspect is his health - he left Watford last year because of a heart scare. The rumour mill, quite a credible one mind, says that he has definitely been contacted by Rigg.
Stuart Lancaster anyone, now that he's gone from England Rugby? Good CV - Head Coach not Manager; used to working with a Director of .. ; knows a defence when he sees one; will sign 11 x Matt Smiths.
Now this is getting my juices flowing. Hopefully our medical team are better than Watfords and could spot the signs earlier. Do coaches have a medical?
It could work in our favour. Even if we get one of our frequent red cards, we'd still have a three man advantage.
I have been reading a lot of the forums today and there is a fair bit about Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink on them with most stating they would be happy to give him a chance as he has transformed Burton getting them promoted and has them second in the league this year, they are organised and solid and don't concede a lot. Now I'm not against having a good look at JFH and he is doing a good job but I really do have to question this theory that he has transformed Burton??? My memory recalls that they were already top of the league when he took over and Gary Rowett had them flying which is why Birmingham snapped him up. Nothing against Jimmy I think he is worth considering but for me if we are going for a younger manager Karl Robinson would be my preference.
Cookie, I agree that Robinson would be an interesting choice, and I think I'd prefer him to Hasselbank. The only thing I'd have against him is that some of the other names being bandied around have experience in winning promotion from the championship, whereas this is his first season even managing at that level. He wouldn't be my first choice, but we could do a lot worse.
